Gefen FST
Fast Switching Technology (FST) is a Gefen software implementation
for HDMI products. FST was created to improve the lengthy HDMI
authentication process, based on the HDMI and HDCP specifications.
FST allows for connecting/disconnecting or turning any of the HDTV
displays on or off without affecting other displays within the
audio/video distribution system.

The GefenToolBox 8x8 Matrix for HDMI routes eight Hi-Def
sources to any eight HDTV displays. Resolutions up to 1080p Full
HD and 1920x1200 plus 3DTV are supported, along with
multichannel digital audio formats such as Dolby® True HD and
DTS-HD Master Audio™.
The 8x8 Matrix eliminates the need to disconnect and reconnect
Hi-Def sources. It works with any Hi-Def source that needs to be
connected to any display using HDMI. Each source can be routed
to any display using the front-panel push buttons, IR remote
control, RS-232 interface, or over IP using the built-in Web
interface.
How It Works
Connect the Hi-Def audio/video sources to the eight HDMI inputs
using the supplied HDMI cables. Connect up to eight displays to
the HDMI outputs. 3D content can be displayed from the 3D
source when a 3D-capable display is connected to Output 1.
Connect the external power supply to the matrix and plug the
power cable into an available electrical outlet. Apply power to all
of the sources and displays.

GTB-MINI-PACS
Use the Mini PACS to control your audio and video
devices over your local network or over the Web
The Mini Professional Automation Control System (Mini PACS) is
used to control audio and video devices (such as TVs, Blu-ray
players, and set-top boxes) using IP over a network. It allows
control of one RS-232 serial-controlled device, three IR-controlled
devices, and two relay contacts. The Mini PACS is a scaled-down
version of the Gefen PACS, providing the same level of control,
but has fewer input and output ports. This makes it more
cost-effective for distributed control installations, or where fewer
I/O ports are required.
The Web user interface allows IR and two-way RS-232 commands
to be sent by the Mini PACS to the connected devices to execute
the desired functions. The IR and RS-232 ports can be
configured, allowing the Mini PACS to be compatible with most
audio and video devices. It can learn, store, and manage IR
commands from other manufacturers' remotes. Two
normally-open relays allow control of screens, blinds, or
draperies.
The Mini PACS is ideally suited for use with the Gefen
Audio/Video Automation (GAVA) System Processor. However, it
can be used with other control systems capable of IP
communications. The Mini PACS can be mounted on a wall or
any flat surface, close to the devices being controlled.

How It Works
Connect the locking power supply to the Mini PACS and plug it
into an available AC outlet. Connect an Ethernet cable between
the Mini PACS and the local network.
Access the Web interface by typing in the correct IP address on
the Web browser. Configure the control interfaces (IR, RS-232,
and relays) via your Web browser. Configure your automation
system to send commands to the Mini PACS via IP.
Connect a serial-controlled device to the RS-232 port on the Mini
PACS. Plug the IR emitters into the Mini PACS and place the
infrared LEDs close to the IR sensors of the A/V devices to be
controlled via IR. Connect to the relay outputs as required (12V
DC is also provided for convenience). Two-way RS-232 control
allows device feedback to be returned to the control system over
the network for accurate control.

Extra Long Range Extender for HDMI and Bi-Directional IR
over one CAT-5e cable
The GefenToolBox Extender for HDMI and Bi-Directional IR with POL
extends HDMI, including multichannel digital audio, at resolutions of up
to 1080 Full HD up to 330 feet (100 meters) away from any Hi-Def
source, using one CAT-5e cable. This product provides Bi-Directional IR
extension between the Sender and the Receiver units, allowing transfer
of IR commands from one remote location to the other. Bi-Directional IR
can be used to control A/V sources placed near the Sender unit,
remotely from the viewing location, and to send IR automation
commands to devices placed near the Receiver. Thanks to the Gefen
POL (Power Over Line) technology, the Receiver unit is powered via the
same CAT-5e cable that extends the HDMI signal from the Sender unit.
This eliminates the need for an external power supply on the Receiver
unit, and helps simplify installation.
How It Works
Locate the GefenToolBox Extender for HDMI and Bi-Directional IR with
POL Sender unit next to the HDMI source. Use the supplied HDMI cable
to connect the source to the Sender unit. The Receiver unit is located
close to the display which can be up to 330 feet (100 meters) away
from the Sender unit. Use an HDMI cable to connect the Receiver unit to
the display. For IR control of a source unit, a Gefen IR Extender should
be plugged into the Receiver and located near the display, and the
included GTB-IR-EMIT IR emitter should be connected to the IR Out on
the Sender unit and attached to the IR sensor window of the source. For
IR control of a device placed near the Receiver unit, connect the IR
output from an automation device such as the Gefen EXT-PACS or
GTB-MINI-PACS to the IR In connector on the Sender unit. Connect a
Gefen IR emitter, such as the GTB-IR-EMIT IR Emitter, to the IR Out on
the Receiver unit, and attach it to sensor window of the display device to
be controlled. Only one CAT-5e cable connects between the Sender
and Receiver units together. Connect the 24V DC power supply to the
Sender unit and to an available electrical outlet. The Receiver unit is
powered via the CAT-5e POL using the cable and does not require an
external power supply.

Advanced Signal Generator for HDMI with 3D Testing Feature
Small, Powerful Signal Generator for HDMI with 3DTV
and KSV Testing
Gefen's next-generation Mini Pattern Signal Generator for HDMI
and 3DTV is designed for easy mobility when installing, designing,
or troubleshooting audio/video systems in the field. Real-time testing
capability for multiple displays and projectors, support for 3DTV,
advanced features, and the small light-weight package, make this
Signal Generator a valuable tool for integrators.
The GefenTV HD Mini Pattern Signal Generator supplies 25 timings,
6 patterns, and an additional 3D testing pattern, for calibrating and
testing video performance. The 3DTV test pattern supports
side-by-side, top-and-bottom, and frame-packing 3D formats up to
[email protected] It supports HD resolutions up to 1080p Full HD and
VESA resolutions up to 1920 x 1200. The built-in audio signal
generator provides up to seven channels of LPCM audio.
The Audio Return Channel (ARC) can be tested via the TOSLINK
digital audio output. Other features include: 12-bit Deep Color,
HDCP and EDID analysis, making this device very useful for installers
and integrators. This new Signal Generator can also analyze the
audio/video signal on the input and display the exact video timing
and audio specifications on-screen.
Advanced features include a KSV count for the connected source- the
HD Mini Pattern Signal Generator for HDMI and 3DTV will identify
the maximum number of KSV keys the source can handle. This is
extremely valuable when distributing an HDCP-compliant source to
multiple displays.
This model also allows you to store a display's EDID information and
take it to the field. If you experience issues with signal loss when
testing displays in the field, you can use either display's EDID or the
previously installed EDID to overcome the issue.
The easy-to-read OLED display, along with an external On-Screen
Display (OSD) menu, accessed through capacitive-touch navigation
buttons on top of the unit, guides users through all settings for easy
operation. Its ease of use enables a professional on-site evaluation
and calibration of HDTV systems, immediately locating where
problems lie so they may be quickly solved.
How It Works
Connect an HDMI cable from the HD Mini Pattern Signal Generator
to the output device (e.g. display). If testing ARC (Audio Return
Channel), connect an optical cable from the output of the signal
generator to the optical input of an audio amplifier.For pass-through

The GefenTV 4x1 HD Switcher w/ Audio Decoding is ideal for anyone
wanting to create Home Cinema systems using multiple HDMI
audio/video sources. It offers an easy-to-use alternative to
over-complicated Home Theater Receivers, while supporting 3DTV and
the latest Blu-ray audio features, or it can add HDMI connections and
audio decoding to existing A/V Receivers that lack HDMI support.
It decodes multi-channel surround-sound formatted digital audio from up
to four HDMI sources, from coax and optical S/PDIF digital audio sources,
plus a stereo analog input. Audio is output on six discrete analog RCA
jacks, ready for any 5.1 channel power amplifier, or connects to the
“External Processor” input on most existing A/V receivers.
Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Pro Logic II, LPCM direct stereo and multichannel surround-sound audio formats are supported with up to six (5.1)
discrete channels. The front left and front right channels feature dual
outputs for bi-amplification
Advanced audio pre-processing insures an optimal surround sound signal,
and a bright LCD display guides operations. RS-232 control allows
connection to remote control or home automation systems, such as
Gefen’s new GAVA automation system and Gefen PACS, with full
feedback.
How It Works
Users can select audio from any one of four connected Hi-Def sources,
both digital audio inputs and 2-channel analog audio. A Blu-ray player,
gaming console, set-top box, DVD player, CD player and more can all be
connected at the same time. If an HDMI source is selected, video is
delivered in Hi-Def format to any HDTV display, and audio is delivered as
5.1 channel audio using standard RCA connectors. The HDMI output
supports pass-through 3DTV making it ideal for future-proofing systems.
Users can also pass-through audio using the digital and/or analog audio
inputs, delivering it as up to 5.1-channel audio, enabling high quality
surround-sound. When an audio input is selected, the video from the
previously-selected video source is still output to the HDMI output, allowing
users to watch a video source while listening to a different audio source.
Users control all audio features using the IR remote or by front-panel
buttons. An RS-232 port and 12V triggers allow interaction with any home
automation system for added convenience.

The GefenTV Wireless for HDMI Extender SR system sends high
definition audio and video to any HDTV display up to 80 feet (25
meters). It extends HDMI A/V content from computers using HDMI,
set-top boxes, Blu-ray players, and other A/V sources to remote
HDMI-compliant display(s). This wireless product is comprised of a
small Sender unit and one table-top Receiver unit. It supports HD
resolutions up to 1080p Full HD along with support for
7.1-channels of digital audio in PCM, Dolby®, or DTS® formats.
The Wireless for HDMI Extender SR transmits within the room and
does not require line-of-sight placement of transceivers for good
reception. Thanks to its small form-factor and easy to plug in
Sender unit, this product is ideal for high-definition A/V extension
within a conference room or home theater installation that requires
the quick addition of portable devices such as a presentation
laptop computer or a video camera to an existing A/V system.
Additional features allow multiple Sender units where each display
can access up to three sources, using the included handheld
remote control.
How It Works
Plug the Sender unit directly into the HDMI output of the source.
Connect an HDMI cable from the Receiver unit to the HDTV
display. When using a PC as the source, connect the supplied
USB-to-mini-USB cable from the PC to the Sender unit. When using
sources that do not have an available powered USB port, you will
need to use the provided USB power supply. Connect the other
power supply to the DC jack on the back of the Receiver unit.
Connect the power supplies to available electrical outlets. If the
Sender and Receiver units do not pair automatically, point the IR
remote at the IR sensor window on the Receiver unit and press the
Menu button. Navigate through the on-screen menu and have the
Receiver unit look for a Sender unit. Press and hold the pairing
button on the Sender unit until the Link LED starts blinking. Press
OK on the remote. A message indicating that both the Sender and
the Receiver units have been paired will appear on the display.

The GefenTV Wireless for HDMI Extender LR system sends high
definition audio and video to any HDTV display up to 100 feet (30
meters) away. It extends HDMI from computers, set-top boxes,
Blu-ray players, and other audio/video sources to a remote HDTV
display. The Wireless for HDMI Extender LR supports resolutions up
to 1080p Full HD along with support for 7.1-channels of digital
audio in PCM, Dolby®, or DTS® formats. An IR emitter can be
connected to the Sender unit and attached to the IR sensor lens of
the Hi-Def source, allowing full control of the source from another
room simply by pointing the IR remote at the Receiver unit. The
Wireless for HDMI Extender LR transmits through walls and does not
require line-of-sight for good reception. Additional features allow
multiple Sender units where each display can access up to three
sources, using the included handheld remote control.
How It Works
Connect an HDMI cable from the Hi-Def source to the Sender unit.
Connect an HDMI cable from the Receiver unit to the HDTV
display. Connect the included power supplies to both the Sender
and Receiver units then connect the power cords to available
electrical outlets. Connect an IR emitter from the Sender unit to the
IR device to be controlled. Power-up the source and the display.
The “Video” indicators on both units should now glow solid blue to
indicate a successful connection between the Sender and Receiver
unit. If the Sender and Receiver units do not pair automatically,
point the IR remote at the IR sensor window on the Receiver unit
and press the Menu button. Navigate through the on-screen menu
and have the Receiver unit look for a Sender unit. Press and hold
the pairing button on the Sender unit until the Link LED starts

The GefenPRO Modular Matrix DVI ELR-POL Sender over CAT-5 can
be installed in any one (or all) of the output slots on any GefenPRO
Modular Matrix, allowing DVI signals to be extended up to 330 feet
(100 meters). Use the GefenPRO DVI ELR Receiver with POL to
complete the connection to the display. Gefen POL (Power Over Link)
technology supplies power to the Receiver unit without the need for a
power supply.
How It Works
Install the Sender module(s) into the GefenPRO Modular Matrix output
slot(s). Connect a single CAT-5 cable up to 330 feet (100 meters) in
length between each output of the Sender module and a Receiver unit.
The Receiver unit will draw power from the Sender module over the
CAT-5 cable. Connect the DVI output from the ELR-POL Receiver unit
to a Hi-Def display. Power up the source(s), the display(s), and the
GefenPRO Modular Matrix.

The GefenPRO 8x8 Matrix with four ELR and four HDMI outputs routes up to

to disconnect and reconnect HDMI sources and displays. It features extension of
four displays up to 330 feet (100 meters), using Gefen’s ELR (Extra Long Range)
and POL (Power Over Link) technologies. ELR extension on four outputs allows
installation of displays over a single CAT-5e cable. POL eliminates the need to
externally power the four included ELR receivers. The GefenPRO 8x8 Matrix

How It Works
Using HDMI cables, connect up to eight Hi-Def sources to the HDMI inputs on
the matrix. Connect up to four HDTV displays to the HDMI outputs on the matrix
and up to four HDTV displays to the supplied ELR-POL receivers. Use a single
CAT-5e cable to connect each of the receivers to the matrix. An external power
supply is not required because power is delivered by the matrix over the CAT-5e
cables. 3D content can be displayed when connecting a 3DTV and 3D
source.Connect the included AC power cord to the matrix and plug it into an
available electrical outlet. Turn on the matrix by pressing the power switch.
Apply power to sources and to the displays. The Hi-Def sources can now be
routed to any display by using the IR remote control, RS-232 port, IP (Telnet or
Web GUI), or by using the front-panel push buttons.
Gefen FST
Fast Switching Technology (FST) is a Gefen software implementation
for HDMI products. FST was created to improve the lengthy HDMI
authentication process, based on the HDMI and HDCP specifications.

Remove and independently route audio data from an
3G-SDI source to any four audio outputs
The GefenPRO 3G-SDI Audio De-Embedder extracts audio from
3G-SDI, Single Link HD-SDI, and SDI video signals. Up to four
AES/EBU digital audio streams can be de-embedded and routed
to any of the four audio outputs. Selection and routing of each
audio group / pair can be configured via RS-232.
How It Works
Connect an SDI source to the SDI In connector. Connect the SDI
Loop Out connector to an SDI audio/video device to monitor the
original unmodified signal. Connect the Output connector to an
SDI acceptor (such as video broadcast equipment). Connect up
to four AES/EBU digital audio reproduction devices (such as a
DAT recorder or pre-amp) to the Audio Out connectors. Connect
the RS-232 cable from the Audio De-Embedder to a PC or
automation system to control which audio group will be
de-embedded from the video signal. Connect the AC power
cord to the 3GSDI Audio De-Embedder and to an available
electrical outlet. Once the unit is powered, RS-232 commands
can be used to select the audio group and pair to be
de-embedded from the video signal.

device through a Web or IP interface
The Professional Automation Control System (PACS) allows
control of Gefen products and other A/V devices (e.g. displays,
Blu-ray players, cable/satellite boxes, Lighting systems, motorized
screens, etc.) through any Web-enabled smartphone, WiFi tablet,
laptop, or automation system. The Web user interface allows IR,
RS-232, and 12V trigger commands to be sent by the PACS to
the connected devices to execute the desired functions. The IR,
RS-232, and 12V DC triggers can be configured, allowing the
PACS to be compatible with most A/V devices. It can learn, store,
and manage IR commands of different manufacturers’ remotes.
The PACS is particularly suitable for use with the Gefen GAVA
Automation System Processor; however it can be used in other
systems capable of programmable IP communications or it can
be configured as an RS-232-to-IR bridge.

How It Works

trigger outputs on the back panel. Connect the locking power
supply to the PACS. Connect an Ethernet cable between the
PACS and the local network.
Access the Web interface by typing in the correct IP address on
the Web browser. Configure the control interfaces (IR,
RS-232, 12V triggers) via your Web browser. Configure the
Automation System to send commands to the PACS via IP.

How It Works
Simply connect all your IR and RS-232-controlled equipment to the

3D Split-Image Converter

The 3D Split-Image Converter using a dual-DVI
projector or two separate projectors
The Gefen 3D Split-Image Converter receives HDMI 3D content
outputted via HDMI from a Blu-ray player or a compatible
set-top box, and splits it into two DVI outputs, for use as
Left Eye / Right Eye with two separate projectors or a 3D enabled
projector that has split-image capability and dual DVI inputs.
The two superimposed images can then be viewed in 3D using
passive polarizing glasses. In 2D mode, the unit acts as a 1x2
splitter for increased brightness with “stacked” projectors.
This product will also extract the digital audio content that is
available on its HDMI input, and make it available through its
optical digital TOSLINK® output for use with amplifer.
The unit’s functions can be controlled with the front panel
buttons, via IR, or via RS232.
How It Works
Using the included HDMI cable, connect the HDMI source to the
3D Split-Image Converter. Connect the DVI outputs of the unit to
two stacked projectors with DVI inputs and passive polarizer
filters, or a 3D compatible projector with dual DVI inputs and
split image capability. Connect a TOSLINK cable from the 3D
splitter to an audio decoder/amplifier. If the 3D Split-Image
Converter is to be controlled via RS-232, connect an RS-232
cable to the unit between the 3D Split-Image Converter and an
automation device such as the Gefen EXT-PACS or GTB-MINIPACS. Connect the supplied 5V DC power supply to the locking
connector on the unit and to an available electrical outlet.

Isolate DVI components in an imaging system to

The Gefen DVI Galvanic Isolator is used in mission-critical
applications where galvanic isolation between the connected DVI
components is required to eliminate ground loops and provide
decoupling between various devices of the High-Definition video
system, while maintaining its high-bandwidth data requirements.
This is a safety requirement in applications such as medical
imaging systems where certain components of the system (such
as endoscopy cameras) come in direct contact with the patient
and the operator.
How It Works
Using the included DVI cable, connect the imaging source such
as a camera to the DVI input of the DVI Galvanic Isolator.
Connect the output of the DVI Galvanic Isolator to the next DVI
component in the system such as a video scaler or a high

Save the DisplayPort EDID from the display to the
source
Computers and other Hi-Def video source devices can
sometimes lose the EDID (Extended Display Identification Data),
when switched away from the source. When displays are
switched off (or disconnected and reconnected), EDID can also
be lost and a computer or a Hi-Def video device may no longer
be able to show the video properly. The Gefen DisplayPort
Detective Plus allows an EDID to be pre-set or recorded from a
display. The data is then stored in non-volatile memory. The
display can then be switched or relocated to a different source,
providing the new source with the correct display setting.
External DIP switches can provide instant access to other
pre-programmed EDID banks, providing rapid integration of
your different source and display.
How It Works
Connect a DisplayPort cable from the display to the output port
of the DisplayPort Detective Plus. To copy the EDID from the
display, connect the included 5V DC power supply or a powered
USB port to the DisplayPort Detective Plus. Press and hold the
Program button on the front panel to record the EDID of the
connected display. Remove the power supply and connect the
source to the input port using the included DisplayPort cable.

How It Works

The DVI fiber optic module extender with Virtual EDID extends DVI
up to 3300 feet (1 km) to a display supporting resolutions up to
1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) using a single-strand 50/125µm laseroptimized multimode (OM3) SC-terminated fiber optic cable.
Optical signal transmission provides galvanic isolation and immunity
to electromagnetic interference compared to similar copper-based
extension modules.
The Virtual EDID feature programs the display EDID into the Sender
module to ensure fast integration and compatibility between the
source and the display.
Note: The Sender module does not need to be powered externally
unless the source does not supply enough power through the DVI
connector.

Extend Dual-Link DVI to two displays over four
CAT-6a cables
The 2x Dual Link DVI Extender over CAT-6a extends two dual-link
DVI sources to two Hi-Def displays up to 200 feet (60 meters)
away. Dual-link resolutions up to 3840 x 2400 are supported
using four CAT-6a cables. Extending dual-link resolutions over
standard DVI cables have a limitation of 15 feet. Exceeding this
distance requires additional repeaters and/or boosters. The 2x
Dual Link DVI Extender over CAT-6a provides a cost-effective
easy-to-install solution.
How It Works
Place the 2X Dual Link DVI Extender over CAT-6a Sender unit next
to the source. Use the included DVI cables to connect the DVI
sources to the Sender unit. Connect the Receiver unit to the DVI
displays using DVI cables. Connect the Sender unit to the Receiver
unit using four CAT-6a cables up to 200 feet (60 meters) in length.
Connect the included locking power supplies to the Sender and
Receiver units and plug both power cords into available electrical
outlets.
Note: This product supports HDCP pass-through only
when using single-link resolutions.

How It Works

The DVI 3600HD allows you to operate a single DVI-compliant
computer from two workstations, by extending DVI, USB 2.0,
analog audio, and RS-232 from the computer to the remote
workstation. USB peripherals can be placed at either of the two
locations, by the Sender or Receiver unit.
How It Works
The DVI 3600HD consists of a Sender and a Receiver unit. The
Sender unit connects to the computer's DVI-compliant video card
output, analog audio jack, RS-232 port, and USB 2.0 port. The
DVI 3600HD Receiver unit connects to the remote display and
peripherals. Four strands of LC fiber optic cable connect the
Sender and Receiver units together.
The DVI 3600HD has two modes of USB operation. When in
local mode, the computer sees USB devices connected to the
Sender unit. When in remote mode, the computer sees USB
devices connected to the Receiver unit. These two modes are
configured using a switch on the front panel of the Sender unit.

using a Local Area Network
The HD KVM over IP extends HDMI, USB, analog audio, RS-232, and
IR, using a Gigabit Local Area Network. The Sender and Receiver units
can be automatically or manually configured to unique IP addresses to
allow the connection of multiple Senders and Receivers to the same
network. Multiple Receiver units can simultaneously connect to any
Sender unit within the network to create a virtual crosspoint matrix.
Each Receiver unit has a built in Ethernet switch and two additional
RJ-45 Ethernet jacks to allow for the connection of computers, other

Gefen EXT-RMT-EXTIRC or EXT-RMT-EXTIRN IR Extender module, if
needed, to the Receiver. Connect the Sender and Receiver units to
each other directly or through an Ethernet switch or router, using
CAT-5e or better cables. Each cable run can be up to 330 feet
(100 meters) in length (If the Sender is connected to your LAN, you can
use the two additional RJ-45 jacks on the Receiver to connect
computers, other IP enabled devices, additional Senders, or to
daisy-chain more Receiver units). Use the Mode button on the Sender to
optimize the picture for sharper still images or smoother moving video.
If you are connecting multiple units, use the 16-position selector on the
Sender to assign a numerical ID to each Sender. Press the Switch button
on the Receiver to toggle between the different Sender sources
connected to the network.
NOTE: This product supports HDCP 2.0 protocol for 1-to-1
connections only. A dedicated and/or Gigabit LAN is not required,
but highly recommended.

The DVI KVM over IP extends DVI, USB, analog audio, RS-232, and IR,

3G-SDI extension using a single-mode fiber optic

The 3GSDI Fiber Optic Extender extends 3G-SDI over one single-mode
ST-terminated fiber optic cable up to 1.25 miles (2 km). It supports
SMPTE-424M (3G-SDI), SMPTE-292M (HD-SDI), and SMPTE-259M
(SDl). The 3G-SDI BNC connector and the ST-terminated fiber optic
