CHANGES
Important! Please first download and apply updated license files via CS Connect™ prior to retrieving and
applying application updates for v.2014.0.0.
General




We have added the ability to create new client records and to import client setup information for
existing client records from UltraTax CS® v.2013.3.0 and higher into Accounting CS via the Populate
Clients from UltraTax CS wizard. For more information, see Importing basic client information from
UltraTax CS.
We have added a payroll sample client template to help streamline the setup of new payroll clients.
All sample client templates are available on the My Product Downloads page in the sidebar titled
Sample Client Templates. Follow the instructions on the page to download the file and then restore
the ACSPAY01 (Payroll Template) in Accounting CS. (Accounting CS Ideas Community, Idea 381)
We have added the Service filter option to the Setup > Clients screen and the Setup > Client
Templates screen. (Accounting CS Ideas Community, Idea 875)
We have added the ability to access individual reports within a report profile when the profile is
selected in the File > Print Reports screen. This enables you to edit the report options for the reports
within the profile at print time. (Accounting CS Ideas Community, Idea 143)

We have updated the application to use a folder dated with the report’s date or end date, respectively,
in the FileCabinet CS® folder tree when printing a report to FileCabinet CS that uses the Single or
Range date option. (Accounting CS Ideas Community, Ideas 159, 343, 429, 773, & 914)
The application now automatically updates the Firm vendor in the Setup > Vendors screen for all
client records with any changes that are made to the general identification and contact information in
the Main tab of the Setup > Firm Information > Firm screen or the Main tab of the Setup > Clients
screen for the Firm client.
We have added the Do not auto-fill values from previous transaction checkbox to the Edit > Enter
Transactions Options dialog accessed from the Actions > Enter Transactions screen. This option
enables you to tab through the Reference, ID/Payee, and Description fields and leave them blank,
rather than having the application automatically populate those fields with the last-used values.
(Accounting CS Ideas Community, Idea 265)
Accounting
Accounts payable
 We have added a right-click menu from which you can select multiple transactions to pay or apply in
the Actions > Manage Payments screen. For more information, see Manage Payments screen.
(Accounting CS Ideas Community, Idea 700)
 The Manage Payments Options dialog now enables you to specify a default application journal, bank
account, and journal for the Actions > Manage Payments screen.
 We have added the ability to sort by column in the Rapid tab of the Actions > Enter Payables screen.
(Accounting CS Ideas Community, Ideas 592 & 623)
 We have addressed the following issues in the Actions > Enter Payables screen.
 The 1099 column was unavailable for a 1099 recipient vendor, in certain circumstances.
 The application did not retrieve the 1099 type when creating a payable from a template.
Accounts receivable
 We have added the ability to search and filter data in the Actions > Manage Customer Payments
screen.
 We have added the ability to set an Accounts Receivable date by choosing Actions > Change AR
Date. You can use this date to set the Accounts Receivable application date in the Actions > Manage
Customer Payments screen. For more information, see AR Date dialog.
 We have added the ability to print multiple copies of an invoice from the Actions > Enter Invoices
screen and the Actions > Print Accounts Receivable Forms screen.
 We have added the ability to sort by column in the Rapid tab of the following screens.
 Actions > Enter Invoices
 Actions > Manage Customer Payments
 We have updated the application to use the Deposit description instead of the generic ‘AR Payment'
and 'Cash Back' descriptions for accounts receivable deposits.
 We have addressed an issue that caused the application to display a separate credit for each
payment included in an accounts receivable deposit.
Workpapers CS


We have addressed the following issues with Source Document Processing.
 The application incorrectly grouped certain documents when the Group brokerage forms
checkbox was marked in the Preferences tab of the Setup > Firm Information > Firm screen.
 In certain circumstances, transmitting multiple source documents at once prevented the
application from retrieving some of those documents back into the Source Document Processing
folder in the Engagement Binders tree.
 An error occurred during the process of organizing source documents if the source document had
the same name as the workpaper that was created.
We have addressed an issue that, in certain circumstances, caused the Workpapers Dashboard to
close when the application was running on the Microsoft Windows® 8.1 operating system.

Data conversion from Creative Solutions Accounting™ to Accounting CS
We have addressed an issue that caused the application to display the client name rather than the vendor
name in the Vendor Address section in the Actions > Enter Payables screen.
Reports

We have updated all accounting reports that display the Net Profit/(Loss) to use the new Chart of
Accounts Activity > Net Income/Loss > Amount variable. (Accounting CS Ideas Community, Idea 239)
 We have updated the Purchases Journal (Condensed and Detailed) accounts payable reports to
include all standard distributions of accounts payable transactions, rather than distributions posted to
expense accounts only.
 We have addressed an issue that caused the application to include hours for independent contractors
on the Average Full-Time Employees Worksheet and the Average Hours Worksheet.
Note: If your firm has modified the predefined version of a report, an updated version will not overwrite
your existing report. If this is the case, you will need to make the necessary changes to your customized
report manually or you will need to restore the latest predefined version using the Report Designer. To do
the latter, select the report from the Reports list pane in the Report Designer and then choose File >
Restore Default.


We have added the Service filter option to the Client filtering and sorting options tab for any report in
which the Client tab is enabled for the report options, such as the default Client List firm report.
(Accounting CS Ideas Community, Idea 441)
We have added the Vendor Type filter option to the Vendor Activity filtering and sorting options tab for
any report in which the Vendor Activity tab is enabled for the report options, such as the default
Check List payroll report.
Report Designer


We have added the following items to the variables tree.
 Chart of Accounts Activity > Transaction > Check Summary Memo Details section of variables
 Chart of Accounts Activity > Transaction > Details section of variables
 Chart of Accounts Activity > Transaction > Memo variable
 Chart of Accounts Activity > Net Income/Loss section of variables
 Chart of Accounts Activity > Transaction > Notes section of variables
 Employee > Employment Information > History section of variables
 Employee > Employment Information > Original Inactive Date variable
We have updated the Segment Selections dialog (accessed by clicking the Ellipsis button next to the
Segments field in Cell Properties or Column Properties of the Design Tools pane) with the following
enhancements.
 A Core checkbox is now available to display amounts posted directly to the core/parent GL
accounts.
 Checkboxes for all segment codes and segment code combinations are now available,
regardless of which segment codes are active or are being used by existing GL accounts.
General – Payroll



We have added a Service charge special type for pay items. The application will include amounts for
pay items that are assigned this special type in the minimum wage validation calculation.
We have updated the workers’ compensation codes available in the application.
We have addressed an issue that prevented the application from calculating Washington SDI
amounts correctly for employees that had both exempt and non-exempt hourly pay items.
Payroll compliance


We have made performance improvements in the Actions > Edit Payroll Tax Forms screen and the
Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen.
Connecticut. Effective January 1, 2014, per the 2014 Connecticut Circular CT Employer’s Guide, the
State of Connecticut now requires all employers to file Form CT-941 electronically and will no longer
accept paper copies of quarterly reports. Because of this, we have removed the Paper filing method.





Please note that you can file these forms electronically if you have purchased a license for Payroll
Compliance. The cost to file electronically is $1.00 per return, but firms that are licensed for Form
940/941 Unlimited ELF incur no additional costs.
Idaho. Because the Idaho State Tax Commission no longer allows a split-monthly deposit frequency,
we have updated all client records that were previously set to use a deposit schedule of Split-monthly
to use the frequency selected for the Idaho State Tax Commission tax agent in the Setup > Firm
Information > Tax Agents screen.
Indiana. We have modified the Withholding ID verification notification that displays when the state
withholding ID is entered in the Payroll Taxes tab of the Setup > Clients screen to only allow 13-digit
ID numbers (the 10-digit state ID plus the 3-digit location code). The application no longer allows the
entry of 14-digit ID numbers, where the 14th digit is the check digit.
Pennsylvania. Effective January 1, 2014, per the 2014 Pennsylvania Employer’s Guide, the State of
Pennsylvania now requires all employers to file Forms UC-2 and UC-2a electronically, and will no
longer accept paper copies of quarterly reports. Because of this, we have combined the internet files
for Forms UC-2 and UC-2a into one file that includes both the tax and employee wage listing.
Pennsylvania locals
 We have made performance improvements to the processing of Pennsylvania local tax forms for
clients with a large number of employees.
 Treasurer, City of Pittsburgh – Form Pittsburgh_LS-1EmployeeListing is now available only for
4th quarter, per the Pittsburgh_LS-1 form instructions.
Payroll form and filing information
The Payroll Form and Filing Information portlet on the Home or Firm dashboard provides the following
information: form approval status, form availability, available filing methods, form due dates, form filing
addresses, tax payment information (for all tax types), agency contact information, new hire reporting
information, payroll resources, and tax calendar (to view and print tax deposit due dates and form due
dates for all federal, state, and certain local tax agents). Click the applicable jurisdiction on the map to
display the federal, state, and local tax form information within the tabbed pages in the lower section of
the portlet. For information on working with portlets, enter Dashboard portlet: Payroll Form & Filing
Information in the search field on the application toolbar.
Important! Click here to open a detailed list of v.2014.0.0 additions or updates for new hire files, tax
agents, payroll tax forms, and payroll tax tables.
Accounting CS Payroll, for live payroll processing



We have made performance improvements to the Actions > Manage NetClient CS screen. We have
reduced the time it takes to load the screen when a filter is applied.
We have made performance improvements to the Actions > Enter Batch Payroll Checks screen.
 We have reduced the time it takes to import a timesheet from Remote Payroll.
 We have reduced the time it takes to create, recall, and to refresh a suspended batch of payroll
checks.
We have added the ability to suspend on-demand batches of payroll checks in the Actions > Enter
Batch Payroll Checks screen.
Data conversion from Payroll CS® to Accounting CS Payroll
We have addressed an issue that prevented the application from importing overtime amounts and hours if
they were associated with an accruable benefit item.
