To avoid injury from hot surfaces, wear protective gloves, or allow engine to cool before removing
any component.
1. Shut off the engine, apply the parking brake, chock the wheels, and perform any other applicable safety steps.
NOTE: Inspect the EGR mounting studs for damage and replace as necessary.
2. Install a new Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve gasket.
3. Install the EGR valve.
NOTE: The four mounting nuts must be lubricated with high-temp, copper-based, anti-seize compound, or NEW
copper-coated nuts must be used for installation.
4. Install the four nuts and torque to 35 N·m (26 lb·ft).
NOTICE: The EGR valve actuator shaft must be held still using a wrench when removing or installing the actuator
lever or pull rod clamping nuts to avoid damage to the EGR valve actuator internal end stops.
