1. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
PLANET's state-of-the-art Ethernet-over-VDSL products are based on two core networking technologies: Ethernet and
VDSL (Very-high-data-rate Digital Subscriber Line). This technology offers the absolute fastest possible data
transmission speeds over existing copper telephone lines without the need for rewiring.
The VC-204 Ethernet over VDSL2converter has a switching architecture with 4 RJ-45 10/100Mbps Ethernet port and
one VDSL port (with 2 RJ-11 connectors). The VC-204 can be set to CO mode or CPE mode via a DIP switch. When
the VC-204-CO is used to connect to the other VC-204-CPE as a standalone pair, up to 100/55Mbps asymmetric data
rate at 200m and up to 25/4Mbps asymmetric band plan at 1.6km. This configuration is ideal for use as an Ethernet
extender for your existing Ethernet network. The VC-204 can also be connected to PLANET’s 8 VDSL2-port + 1 Gigabit
Managed Switch, the VC-810S, to offer the most flexible approach to new network design and existing network
upgrades.
PLANET's Ethernet over VDSL2 Converter solution provides a much cheaper replacement and smooth migration for
existing Long Reach Ethernet (LRE) networks.
High-performance network processor and integrated VDSL2 modem deliver speed and throughput ideal for FTTH
deployments. The VC-204 ensure quality delivery of delay-sensitive voice and video services such as VoIP and
standard and HDTV. It enable the delivery of triple play services over IP-based VDSL2 “first mile” networks.
The VC-204 is compatible with below PLANET VDSL2 devices:
