Rosemount ® 8800 Series Smart Vortex Flowmeter Short Course

Course Length/Location: Half day course offered at a Customer Site or as a Public Registration Class. This class is
intended to be taught as two ½ day repeat sessions on a given day. Therefore, it is for students that have limited time, or
for customers who need to train their entire department, but must also maintain the operation of their plant by splitting their
employees between the AM/PM sessions.

Learning Objectives:
After attending this course the student will be able to do the following:
Briefly be able to explain the principle of operation for how a Rosemount Vortex flowmeter works and the function of
the key components
Have a basic understanding of the installation best practices for orienting, mounting and wiring the sensor and
Be able to perform a basic configuration of the metering system for the application
Be able to apply a step-by-step process to diagnose and correct common meter and process issues
This half day course is a condensed version of the 2341 course. This course briefly reviews the theory of operation, meter
components and installation. The focus of the class is to provide a hands-on experience configuring the Rosemount 8800
Smart Vortex flowmeter. Students will learn the operation and capabilities of the HC475, Local Operator Interface and how to
use these tools to perform configuration. Common issues encountered and troubleshooting techniques will also be covered.
Since this is a four-hour class, some prior experience working with Rosemount Vortex flowmeters is recommended.
Students with no prior experience can also benefit from this course as an introduction. However, a basic understanding
of the fundamentals of flow measurement, electricity, analog and frequency signal processing are assumed.
Target Audience:
This half day course is intended as a refresher or four-hour introduction for anyone that is involved with properly installing,
wiring, configuring and troubleshooting a Rosemount Vortex flowmeter. Typical job functions include: maintenance
technicians, instrument technicians and instrumentation engineers.
Cancellations: If your plans or budgets change, you may cancel your reservations up to 14 calendar days prior to the start
of the course without incurring a cancellation charge. Limited enrollment makes it necessary to charge 50% of the full tuition
for cancellations received during the 14 days prior to the start of the course, and full tuition for failure to attend without
cancelling. Substitutions are accepted until the first day of class.
