the safest location

your vehicle owner’s

The primary
protection
for occupants
of a motor vehicle
in a collision
is the structure
of the vehicle itself, and a child restraint
will not protect
a child when the vehicle sustains very serious damage. However, correctly

in most accidents.
Make sure that you understand

FAILURE TO FOLLOW
EACH OF THE INSTRUCTIONS
IN THIS
BOOKLET CAN RESULT IN YOUR CHILD STRIKING THE VEHICLE’S
INTERIOR DURING A SUDDEN STOP OR CRASH. SECURE THIS
CHILD RESTRAINT WITH A VEHICLE BELT AS SPECIFIED IN THIS
INSTRUCTION
BOOKLET
AND YOUR VEHICLE’S
OWNER’S
MANUAL.
The National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration
recommends
that parents select the rear seat as the safest location for a child seat.
However, the actual dimensions
of the seat and the details of the
belts used to anchor the child seat differ from vehicle to vehicle.
Please study the section on Compatible Seat Belts. If in doubt, consult
your
vehicle
owner’s
manual
and your
Britax
dealer.
The primary protection for occupants of a motor vehicle in a collision
is the structure
of the vehicle itself, and a child restraint will not
protect a child when the vehicle sustains very serious damage.
However, correctly installed restraints will substantially
improve the
chances for survival in most accidents. Make sure that you understand
the correct
way to use this restraint
in your
vehicle.

Rear Seating Positions
Are Safest
According to accident statistics, in a vehicle with rear designated
seating positions, children are safer when properly restrained in
rear seating positions than in front seating positions. As a rule, if
a lap-shoulder
belt is available, use the rear middle position. The
second choice is the rear outboard
position, on the curb side.
Use this restraint only on forward facing vehicle seats. Do not use
in rear-facing
seats of station wagons or side facing seats. Read
this section carefully.
If in doubt, return to the dealer for help.

BOOKLET

VEHICLE’S

MANUAL
The primary
protection
for occupants
of a motor vehicle in a
collision is the body of the vehicle itself, and a child restraint will
not protect a child when the vehicle sustains very serious damage.
However,
correctly
installed restraints
will substantially
improve
the chances for survival
in all accidents.
Make sure that you
understand
the correct way to use this restraint
in your vehicle.
This Toddler Restraint
contains
a special
device that will
automatically
turn off the passenger airbag ONLY in BabySmartTM
airbag deactivation
system equipped vehicles. Unless this Toddler
Restraint is used in a vehicle equipped
with BabySmartTM
and
the front passenger airbag is off, this Restraint must not be placed
in the front seat of a vehicle that has a passenger
airbag. A
passenger airbag will inflate with great force in the event of an
accident
and can cause serious to fatal injuries to your child.

Length of Seat Belt
Lap belts and lap-shoulder
belts will work with the Toddler Restraint,
if the belt length is long enough to fit into the slot on the Toddler
Restraint. If the seat belt is not long enough, NEVER use the Toddler
Restraint
without the Impact Shield. Use an alternative
vehicle
seating position.
Unacceptable
Seat Belts
There are several types of seat belts that will NOT work with the
Toddler Restraint and must not be used.

Guide
Rear Seating Positions
are Safest
According
to accident statistics,
in a vehicle with rear designated
seating positions,
children are safer when properly
restrained
in
rear seating positions than in front seating positions.
As a rule, if
the appropriate
seat belt is available, use the rear middle position.
The second choice is the rear outboard
position, on the curb side.
This restraint
contains a special device that will automatically
turn
off the front passenger-side
airbag ONLY in BabySmartTM
equipped
vehicles.
It MUST NOT be used in the front seat of vehicles
without
the BabySmartm
System.
Failure to do so may result in
injury or death to the child. Owners of vehicles with front passenger
airbags should refer to their vehicle owner’s manual for child restraint
installation
instructions.
