The SR-14 and SR-18, 4-port and 8-port SUN KVM switches,
represent another addition of reliable KVM switches from
ConnectPRO. They allow one user to control up to 64 SUN
computers with one keyboard, mouse and monitor. This exciting
product is the answer most IT managers are looking for.
Each SUN computer is connected to the Master-IT KVM switch
by only two cables, one for the keyboard/mouse and the other
for the VGA monitor. Automatic keyboard and mouse simulation
technology ensures trouble-free SUN computer boot-up and
seamless switching among SUN computers. Selecting a SUN
computer is as easy as pushbutton pressings or hotkey
commands. Easy-to-use automatic scan facility catches system
failures early.
The SR-14 and SR-18 are built on ConnectPRO’s proven
success with the Master-IT Professional line, including hot
plug-and-play, hot configurability, reliable switching and ease of
use. This pure SUN KVM switch is the most cost-effective
solution for contemporary server room management. Now, save
space, eliminate extra costly peripherals, enhance control and
improve the Manageability of IT data centers with Connectpro’s
SR-14 and SR-18.
Dual-Console Matrix Master-IT SUN
The advanced Dual-console matrix Master-IT SR-28, enables
two separate users to manage over eight servers with two sets
of keyboards, mice, and monitors simultaneously. When

Single Master-IT SUN Configuration
The advanced Dual-Console Master-IT SUN enables two
separate users to simultaneously manage over eight computers
with two sets of keyboards, mice, and monitors. When
cascaded, it can easily be expanded for dual user access of up
to 32 computers. Combined with all the advanced features, this
true 8-port matrix switch is the ultimate solution for network
managers.
Selecting a computer is the same as the Single Console version
if both users are not accessing the same computer.
Each computer can only be operated by one user at a time. If a
second user tries to access the computer already operated by
the other one; his screen becomes black and the keyboard
LED’s will flash on and off indicating the computer is restricted
from access. The restricted user can either wait until the
screen shows up again or select another computer with hotkeys or the front panel buttons.
Once the time-out period has elapsed for the active console,
either user may gain access to that computer. The elapse
period for timeout can be adjusted.
Connecting a SUN keyboard, a SUN mouse and a monitor
directly to their designated CONSOLE ports will configure that
switch as the MASTER. (There are two CONSOLE ports on
the SR-28 for two sets of SUN keyboards, mice and monitors).

Then, connect multiple sets of mini-DIN8 cables and monitor
cables to the "PC" ports of the Master-IT. See figure 1.
Audio Stick
An optional multimedia module (Part # MAV-108) can be
connected to the Master-IT SUN for selecting microphone and
stereo speaker signals. Audio Stick is either ON or OFF. When
set to ON, audio selection will follow computer selection. When
set to OFF, audio selection stops following computer selection,
which allows the monitoring of a particular computer's audio
signal while operating other computers.
To initiate an ON or OFF state, press and release the CTRL key
twice, followed by the F5 key once.
CTRL , CTRL , F5
Each time this hot-key sequence is entered, one or two beeps
will sound, indicating ON or OFF respectively.

Cascade Configuration (Master/Slave)
Switching back and forth between the currently selected
computer and the previous one is done by pressing and
releasing the CTRL key twice, followed by the F7 key once.
CTRL , CTRL , F7
Configuration Changes
Whenever a stand-alone MASTER, has a SLAVE added to it,
that slave MUST be powered OFF before being connected to
the master.
14
A second level of one or more Master-IT SUN switches can be
connected to PC Ports 1~4 (SR-14) or PC Ports 1~8 (SR-18 &
SR-28) of a MASTER unit. Cascade configurations expand
system capacity allowing more computers to be selected from
the MASTER or SLAVE. There is only on MASTER. It has the
SUN keyboard, mouse and monitor directly connected to its
CONSOLE port, from which the operator will access any
computer.
Once connected, the Master-IT SUN will automatically
configure itself to be either MASTER or SLAVE. SR-14s, SR18s, & SR-28s can be mixed in cascade configuration. [Note:
The MASTER must have an equal number or more PC ports
than the Slaves, i.e., if an SR-14 is a Master, another SR-14
can be a slave, but an SR-18 or SR-28 can not be a slave.]
See figure 2.

Auto Scan
Auto Scan will automatically scans powered-ON computers one
at a time, at regular intervals. During Auto Scan mode, any
console activity that is detected will suspend the scanning and
reset the count down timer until console activity stops. It will
then resume with the next computer in sequence. The length of
the Auto Scan interval (Scan Rate) is adjustable.
