The following is a summary of the major points of the Alarm Ordinance,













All alarm systems shall be installed in accordance with all applicab requirements of the building code and applicable established stan by the City of Santa Rosa. All audible alarm systems, when activated, shall automatically cea within 20 minutes. Upon request of the police department, a user or designated repr respond within one hour. It is unlawful to use any taped or otherwise recorded message to fire emergency to the City of Santa Rosa Communications Center.

It is a misdemeanor for any person to install, possess, operate, us maintain any alarm system without a valid permit. In addition, pe transferable. Permits may be denied on the following grounds:

The alarm system is deficient. The applicant or applicant's agent has knowingly made an misleading fraudulent statements of material fact. Applicant has had a similar type permit previously revoked Violation of any of the provisions of this chapter.

Permits issued pursuant to this division shall be renewed annually Any change in ownership in a business shall require a new permit Permits shall be posted on the premises in a conspicuous location The permittee shall be responsible for any service, test, repair, m adjustment, or installation, which might actuate a false alarm on a system. Newly installed alarms shall be granted a 15-day grace period in w system problems. Grounds for revocation are:

Violation of any of the provisions of this chapter.

Excessive false alarms as defined by established regulation Any false, misleading, or fraudulent statement of material Failure of the permittee or representative to respond withi requested by the police department.



If a permit is revoked, the permittee has ten days following such evidence to the Chief of Police why it should not be revoked. Any person whose application for a permit is denied, or whose pe may appeal to City Council within 15 days from the date of the m notice.

RULES & REGULATIONS Ten or more false alarms in any 12-month period are an excessive numbe nuisance, and shall be grounds for the revocation of the permit. The extra charge fee for each and every false alarm in excess of four rec in any 12-month period shall be: 2nd alarm = $125; 3rd alarm = $150; 4th alarm = $175; 5th alarm = $2 $225; 7th alarm = $250; 8th alarm = $275; 9th and subsequent alarms = subsequent alarms will have an additional $1,000 penalty.
