STEPS IN THE PROCEDURE; CONSULT A TRAINED
TECHNICIAN. IMPROPER INSTALLATION COULD RESULT IN
SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
NOTE: Before installation, determine that the motorcycle requires the
installation of a load equalizer by starting the motorcycle and checking
the turn signals. If they flash fast or erratically, proceed with the
installation as follows. If they flash at a normal rate, DO NOT install.

Load equalizers generate heat when in use. Avoid using the turn signals
for an extended period of time, otherwise the load equalizer will overheat.
Never operate the four-way flashers unless you first remove the load
equalizer. Overheating will damage the load equalizer, causing loss of turn
signal operation and may create a fire hazard!
NOTE: THIS IS A UNIVERSAL FITMENT FOR 12 VOLT MOTORCYCLE LIGHTING SYSTEMS. When
one pair of stock turn signals are replaced by L.E.D. or other low-draw lights. Adds
approximately 2 amps of load to the circuit.
NOTE: THIS PRODUCT IS NOT INTENDED FOR USE ON CAN BUS EQUIPPED MOTORCYCLES. NO
LOAD EQUALIZER IS NEEDED ON CAN BUS SYSTEMS WHEN USING A REAR RUN-TURNBRAKE CONTROLLER OR L.E.D. TURN SIGNAL CONVERSIONS.
INTRODUCTION:
Turn signal control modules and flasher units require a predetermined amount of load (resistance) in order
to function properly. Often times, when L.E.D. or small incandescent bulbs are used in place of stock turn
signals, the reduction in resistance is enough to render the turn signal control module or flasher unit
inoperative. The purpose of a load equalizer is to add back some of this lost resistance so the turn signal
control module or flasher does not notice that the stock signals are no longer in place.
Always install the load equalizer upstream of any existing multifunction
control modules. Do not install a load equalizer between a module and the
turn signals as this will overload the load equalizer. Overloading will
damage the load equalizer and may create a fire hazard!
Küryakyn recommends the use of dielectric grease on electrical connections.
PROCEDURE A:
Follow this procedure if either of the following statements are true and the turn signals flash erratically:
• The only modification to the bike is that the stock signals have been replaced with low-draw turn signals.
• The bike has had the stock turn signals replaced with low-draw turn signals and/or is equipped with a
multifunction control module manufactured by someone other than Küryakyn.
INSTALLATION:
NOTE: If the bike is not equipped with a Kuryakyn Panacea Taillight System or Kuryakyn
Run-Turn-Brake Controller and you do not wish to splice into bike’s wiring, Kuryakyn
offers plug-in Load Equalizer Adapters (P/N 4837, or P/N 5499, sold separately)
that fit most ’96-later H-D models. These adapters plug into the stock wiring harness
under the seat or behind the side cover (ensure that these are being connected
upstream from any multi-function controller) and provide connectors that will accept
the load equalizer. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO CAN BUS EQUIPPED MOTORCYCLES.
If the bike is not equipped with a Küryakyn controller of any sort, locate the left and right turn power wires
and a ground wire (upstream from any multi-function controller) on the bike’s wiring harness. Use a
test light or wiring schematic for your model, typically easiest access is beneath the seat or behind a side
cover. Cut off the connector of the load equalizer and using the included Scotch Locks, connect one violet
wire from the load equalizer to the bikes’ right turn power wire and the other violet wire from the load
equalizer to the bike’s left turn power wire. Connect the black wire from the load equalizer to the ground
wire. FIG 1

Do not secure the load equalizer to the control

a frame tube as the frame will help to dissipate
heat. If that is not possible, tuck the load
equalizer into an area where it will not contact
any heat sensitive components.

PROCEDURE B:
Follow this procedure if the following statement is true:
• The bike is equipped with a Küryakyn Panacea Taillight system or with a Küryakyn Run-Turn-Brake
Controller and DOES NOT have a Can Bus system.
INSTALLATION:
If the bike is equipped with a Küryakyn Panacea Taillight System or Küryakyn Run-Turn-Brake Controller,
plug the new load equalizer into either connector on the module.
ALL APPLICATIONS:
If, after the load equalizer is installed, the turn signals flash rapidly, you may need to synchronize the load
equalizer to the turn signal system. Do this by starting the motorcycle and turning either turn signal on for
5 flashes. Turn that signal off and turn on the other signal for 5 flashes. Turn the motorcycle off. Start the
motorcycle and verify the signals flash at the correct rate.
