Users of the Creative Solutions Accounting™ (CSA) software.
This user bulletin explains changes made for this release of Creative Solutions Accounting.
HELP & HOW-TO CENTER
The new Help & How-To Center provides one-stop access to the information you need while using CSA.
We’ve combined all content from the help system and the Support knowledgebase into a single repository
that is hosted on our website and accessible directly from within CSA.
Because the Help & How-To Center resides on our website, we can update and expand content between
releases, based on your feedback, searches, and questions. In addition, the Help & How-To Center offers
several significant enhancements.
 A much more robust search engine that provides relevant search results quickly.
 New search options that enable you to search all CSA topics at once, to limit the search by one or
more subject categories or by service, or to search for information about another Thomson Reuters
application without having to open that application.
 Full compatibility with your preferred browser so that you can use your browser’s regular features to
navigate, search, print, and bookmark the topics you visit most often.

 An active internet connection is required to access the Help & How-To Center.
 For answers to questions on using CSA, access the Help & How-To Center by choosing Help > Help
button on the toolbar, or by pressing CTRL+Y.

CHANGES
All CSA products
Important! If you are running Creative Solutions Accounting from a network installation, you will be
prompted to run the desktop setup on each workstation the first time CSA is launched after applying this
update. In a Terminal Server environment, you must run the desktop setup from each terminal server that
runs CSA.
Note: You must log in to your computer as an administrator to download and apply software updates via
CS Connect™ and to run the desktop setup. Be certain to restart your computer after running the desktop
setup to insure that all components are installed correctly.

The new Accounting CS Conversion Report, which provides additional payroll information for selected
clients to assist in the conversion of CSA data to Accounting CS,™ is now available on the Utilities
menu.

Accountant’s Assistant™

We have added new fields to the Setup > PayCheck Tax Information > Federal Tax Information
dialog for the FICA-Med surcharge. These values transfer to CBS when you generate client data and
select Federal tax tables in the Generate Client Information dialog.
Write-Up CS®


We have updated the tax codes that are available for selection from the Setup > Chart of Accounts
window for integration with the 2012 versions of UltraTax CS® and GoSystem® Tax RS.
We have updated the following PDF documents for 2012.
 Tax Code Listing for Chart of Accounts Setup
 Tax Code Diagrams for Chart of Accounts Setup
With an active internet connection, you can open either of those PDF documents by searching on
PDFs for tax code listing or diagrams for Chart of Accounts setup in CSA in the Help & How-To
Center.
Payroll form and filing information
To determine the status, availability, and filing methods for payroll tax forms, refer to the Payroll section of
the CSA Home Page. Click the + sign next to a jurisdiction to display the list of available forms. Click the
+ sign next to any form to display the status and filing methods available.
Payroll Compliance module










We have updated federal Forms 940, 943, 944, and 945 for 2012 to the latest versions available from
the agency.
We have updated federal electronic files for the following forms to the latest versions available from
the agency.
 Forms 940, 941, and 944
 Forms W-2 and W-2 corrected for 2012
 Forms 1099 and 1099 corrected for 2012
We have updated the facsimile copies of Forms W-2 and W-3 for 2012 to the latest versions available
from the agency.
We have updated the federal tax information for 2013, which includes the additional FICA-Med tax of
0.9% on wages over $200,000, retirement plan limits, and FICA-SS limit and employee rate change.
The IRS has indicated that they have not yet received the 2013 federal withholding tax tables from
the U.S. Treasury Department, but they anticipate receiving them soon. The IRS stated that if no new
tables have been issued by the time you begin processing 2013 payroll, you should continue to use
the 2012 withholding tables until the 2013 tables are issued.
Note: The year-end CBS tax tables update will be released during the week of December 24, 2012. If
the 2013 federal withholding tables have not been issued at that time, please instruct your clients to
continue using the 2012 withholding tables until the 2013 tables are issued.
We have updated the state tax tables for 2013 for California (including 2012), Georgia, Hawaii,
Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, Puerto Rico, and Rhode
Island.
We have updated the Yonkers Resident local tax table for 2013.
We have updated the SUTA/SUI/SDI/FLI information for the following states for the year 2013:
Alaska, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Montana,
North Carolina, North Dakota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania,
Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
Note: If you have not configured the program to update your payroll tax information automatically,
choose Setup > System Configuration > Payroll tax Information > Update.
We have updated the Indiana W-2 file to the latest version available from the agency.
We have updated the following reports.

 We have updated the application to allow the POA Ending Date field to remain blank when
creating Michigan Power of Attorney enrollment files.
 We have addressed an issue that, in certain circumstances, caused the application to improperly
create the Michigan Form UIA-1028 SUTA file for clients for which the Reimbursing employer
checkbox is marked in the MI Payroll Tax dialog (accessed by choosing Setup > Supplemental
Information in the Utilities > Payroll Tax Processing window when Michigan is selected).
 New Jersey. We have added the ability to create a file for Form NJ-W-3.
 New Mexico. Form RPD-41072 and the Form ES-903A SUTA file format

Trial Balance CS®



We have updated tax exports to Lacerte,® ProSystem fx,® and ProSeries® for the 2012 tax year.

Engagement CS®




We have addressed an issue that prevented the application from prompting users to roll forward the
linked Smart Practice Aids engagement for certain engagement types.
We have removed menu options that linked to the PPC Online Library.
We have addressed the following issues with Microsoft® Excel® files that use an XLSM filename
extension.
 An error occurred when a file was copied and pasted within an engagement.
 The application added the file to the engagement as a generic file instead of as an Excel file
when the file was added via drag and drop.
Engagement CS now displays an informational prompt when a Microsoft Word workpaper is opened if
the workpaper contains links to workpapers in another engagement. See the Engagement CS: Linked
Excel and Word Documents not Updated when Rolled Forward topic in the Help & How-To Center for
additional information.
Financial Analysis CS®
The RMA-Risk Management Association® Annual Statement Studies industry data for 2012-2013 are now
available.

From the Support Contact Information page on our website, you can complete a form to send a question
