SERVICE T
REPLACEMENT OF PLUG TYPE MOTORS
ADC uses various motor vendors, and in some instances the plug connection type motors used (includes both single
and stack units) are identical, with exception visually, where in some cases the wiring between the motor and
connector differs from the motor being replaced. Even though the wiring may look different (not the same amount of
wires between the motor and connector), some vendors make the termination changes inside the motor thereby
requiring less wires between the motor and the connector. Again, even though they may look different, they are
totally interchangeable.
THE MOTOR IS A DIRECT REPLACEMENT, SO IF THE PLUG HAS MORE OR LESS WIRES, NO MODIFICATIONS
ARE NEEDED. DO NOT CUT THE PLUG CONNECTOR OFF AND TRY TO REWIRE THE MOTOR!
THE JUMPERING IS DONE ON THE DRYER SIDE PLUG FOR THE VOLTAGE APPLICABLE.
SINGLE DRYER
STACK DRYER
AD-170, CG165-75, CG145-55 TUMBLER BEARING CHANGE
As of November 13, 2003, the 2-1/2" Pillow Block Bearing with setscrews (ADC P/N’s 100242 & 881775) used
on the tumbler shafts of the models AD-170, CG165-75 and CG145-55 has changed to a GRIPLOCK type Bearing
(ADC P/N 884100).
IMPORTANT: GRIPLOCK BEARING COLLAR SCREW MUST BE TORQUED BETWEEN 360-400 INCH
POUNDS.
The GRIPLOCK type bearing can be used as a direct replacement for models previously manufactured with the
setscrew type bearing.
PHASE 7.4.2 GEN II DMC MP BOARD CHANGE
As of December 2, 2003, the phase 7.4.2 DMC board used in our AD-320, AD-330 and AD-360X2 Stack dryer
product line has some programming enhancements and program procedure changes (menu paths). The
ADC P/N 137260 has not changed, as the two versions are physically the same and totally interchangeable with the
previous board. The differences are some software enhancements and program procedure changes (menu paths).
However, due to the program enhancements and program procedure changes, the dryers now include a new
MP (Phase 7.4.2) user’s manual and an updated program location label.

PHASE 7.2 GEN I TO GEN II NON-COIN MP BOARD CHANGE
As of December 3, 2003, the phase 7.2 Non-Coin board used in “ALL” main and medium line products has
changed from a Phase 7.2.1 (GEN I) MP board (ADC P/N 137247) to a Phase 7.2.2 (Gen II) MP board
(ADC P/N 137243). The two versions are physically the same; the differences are some enhancements and
program procedure changes (menu paths). However, other changes have been made to the dryer where the
7.2.1 GEN I version board (ADC P/N 137247) cannot be used as a replacement for this December 2003 or
newer vintage dryer. As the result of these changes, the dryers now include a new MP (Phase 7.2.2.) user’s manual
and an updated program location label.
An IMPORTANT new SAFETY feature that is part of this change is an external water pressure sensor which is
monitored by the Sensor Activated Fire Extinguishing (S.A.F.E.) system or Fire Suppression System (F.S.S.) and
detects if water is NOT being applied to the dryer’s S.A.F.E./F.S.S. water supply valve. The Phase 7.2.2 MP
Non-Coin board can now detect if water is not present and notifies the user (location), via the display, if the system
is disabled due to the lack of a water supply. If water is applied to the system, and after a certain amount of hours the
water supply is disrupted (shut off or lost), the display will prompt and notify the user that the system has been
disabled, and the Phase 7.2.2 computer system will NOT allow the dryer to heat above 120° F (49° C) (axial models),
or 130° F (54° C) (radial models). If on the other hand, water was never applied to the water valve and never sensed,
the Phase 7.2.2 computer display with prompt the user that the S.A.F.E. system or F.S.S. is disabled, and will
continue to operate normally for a preprogrammed amount of time. If at that point water is not connected or sensed,
the Phase 7.2.2 computer will NOT allow the dryer to heat above 120° F (49° C) (axial models), or 130° F (54° C)
(radial models).
This change includes ALL non-coin AD, CG, D, MD, and STI models 15 through 190 (CG190-200).
D170 TUMBLER CHANGE
As of November 10, 2003, the D170 model dryer is no longer manufactured with a tumbler (basket) with an
epoxy based Teflon (painted) finish. This model dryer is now manufactured with a stainless steel tumbler (basket).
AD-170, D170, AND CG165-75 NOW HAVE BACK DRAFT DAMPERS
As of November 19, 2003, the models AD-170, D170, and CG165-75 are now manufactured with a back draft
damper. Prior to this back draft dampers were a “cost” option for the above mentioned model dryers.
AD-200 AND AD-310 380V TRANSFORMER AND BREAKER CHANGE
In an effort to standardize, as of October 27, 2003, the transformer used in all gas and steam 380 volt versions of
the AD-200 and AD-310 has changed. The transformer has changed from a 300VA transformer (ADC P/N 132073)
to a 450VA transformer (ADC P/N 132088). As the result of this change, the circuit breaker (CB7) has changed
from ADC P/N 135512 to 135513. Therefore, the newer 450VA transformer CANNOT be used as a direct replacement
in the field unless the breaker is changed as well.
D90 TUMBLER CHANGE
As of December 1, 2003, the D90 model dryer is no longer manufactured with a tumbler (basket) with an epoxy
based Teflon (painted) finish. This model dryer is now manufactured with a stainless steel tumbler (basket).

AD-78 AND CG MEDIUM LINE MAIN DOOR CHANGE
The studs and nylon acorn nuts (White ADC P/N 141012 or Black ADC P/N 141013) used to secure the glass in
place have been deleted from our 31-1/4" CRS Main door, which is used on the models AD-78, AD-60 (WASSALON),
CG115-25, CG145-55, CG165-75, and CG190-00. The glass is now secured in place with a silicone type of
adhesive. As the result of this change, the main door glass has changed as well (holes eliminated) from
ADC P/N 102214 to ADC P/N 102221 (glass without holes). This change was implemented in production on
November 6, 2003 and affects all related main doors assemblies, BOTH production and parts orders.

ADG-24 DIRECT SPARK IGNITION (DSI) MODULE CHANGE
The model ADG-24 (GAS) manufactured as of November 24, 2003, has a different type of Direct Spark Ignition
(DSI) module, mounting bracket, and High Voltage (HV) wire. The Johnson Controls DSI Module
(ADC P/N 801048) for this model dryer has been replaced with our alternate vendor (Fenwal) DSI module
(ADC P/N 128937). As the result of this DSI module changeover the DSI mounting bracket has changed (mounting
stud foot print differs). In addition, the High Voltage (HV) wire has also changed, as now the termination to the
Fenwal module is made with a 1/4” female spade terminal, as opposed to a non-terminated stud connection to the
Johnson Controls DSI module. Due to these differences the Fenwal (ADC P/N 128937) CANNOT be used as a
direct replacement for existing dryers in the field manufactured with the previously used Johnson Controls DSI
module (ADC P/N 801048).
The drawings below are ONLY of the natural gas burner assemblies and are for comparison purposes only.

2-1/2" PILLOW BLOCK BEARING P/N 100242 AND P/N 881775 NOW OBSOLETE
Due to the recent change from a setscrew type to griplock type bearing, the ADC P/N 100242 and ADC P/N 881775
2-1/2" Pillow Block Bearing with setscrews are no longer available. All orders placed for either of these setscrew
type bearings will automatically be cross-referenced by our system and filled with the 2-1/2" griplock bearing
(ADC P/N 884100).
IMPORTANT:
THIS PARTICULAR GRIPLOCK BEARING COLLAR SETSCREW MUST BE TORQUED TO
BETWEEN 360 TO 400 INCH POUNDS.
PHASE 7.2.1 (GEN I ) NON-COIN MP BOARD DISCONTINUED
In reference to the recent change where the models AD-15 through 170 NON-COIN computer system changed from
Phase 7.2.1 (GEN I) (ADC P/N 137247) to 7.2.2 (GEN II) (ADC P/N 137243), the Gen I board (ADC P/N 137247)
is no longer available. All orders placed for the Gen I board (ADC P/N 137247) will automatically be
cross-referenced and filled with a Phase 7.2.1 to 7.2.2 kit.
The two Phase 7 MP boards are totally interchangeable physically. However, some software changes and
programming procedures were changed where the customer’s existing 7.2.1 MP User’s manual (included with the
dryer) is now not totally accurate. As the result of this, a new manual (7.2.2) and program location label is included
in the 7.2.1 to 7.2.2 kit as well as applicable instructions.
Being that there are different versions of the Phase 7.2.2 boards (ADC P/N 137247) in the field where parameters
differ (i.e. with Sensor Activated Fire Extinguishing [S.A.F.E.] or Fire Suppression System [F.S.S.], D models, etc.)
for parts orders, different kit numbers have been assigned. So, when an Phase 7.2.1 board (ADC P/N 137247) is
ordered, there is a multiple choice for the appropriate 7.2.1 to 7.2.2 kit. When placing a parts order and the
ADC P/N 137247 is used, then the model and serial number of the dryer MUST be provided so that the correct
Phase 7.2.1 to 7.2.2 kit is provided. Failure to do so will delay in the processing of the parts order.
Choices for PH7.2.1 to 7.2.2 kits are:
Dryers manufactured with S.A.F.E. (i.e. AD, CG, etc. models but NOT MD models):
ADC P/N 887000
Dryers manufactured with F.S.S. (i.e. STI models etc..):
ADC P/N 887001
D model dryers with S.A.F.E.:
ADC P/N 887002
MD model dryers with S.A.F.E.:
ADC P/N 887006
ELECTRIC ELEMENTS AND INSULATOR PARTS ORDERS
Due to a vendor change, insulators are no longer included with open coil electric elements (i.e., ADC P/N 120010,
ADC P/N 120011, ADC P/N 120012, etc.) when purchased as a parts order. When ordering open coil electric
elements, the insulators (two [2] each of both external [ADC P/N 120080] and internal [ADC P/N 120081]) must be
purchased separately.

MEDIUM RANGE DRYER S.A.F.E. SYSTEM CHANGE
A slight change has been made to the medium dryer range Sensor Activated Fire Extinguishing (S.A.F.E.) system
piping arrangement where for ease of assembly and service, the 3/8” close nipple (refer to Illus. no. 16 in drawing)
used at the brass tee has been replaced with a 3/8” brass “hex” nipple. This change was implemented in the models
AD-120, AD-170, CG115-25, CG145-55, CG165-75, CG190-00, D90, D120, D170, AND STI-45 on
Decemeber 2, 2003.
The 3/8” brass “hex” nipple (ADC P/N 182579) can be used as a direct replacement for the previously used 3/8”
close nipple (ADC P/N 143241).
