In addition, listed below are some other important safety instructions and precautions you should follow: • To properly install a light assembly, you must have a good understanding of automotive electrical procedures and systems, along with proficiency in the installation and use of safety warning equipment. • Before drilling into a vehicle structure, be sure that both sides of the surface are clear of anything that could be damaged. • You should frequently inspect the light system to ensure that it is operating properly and that it is securely attached to the vehicle. • Refer to the instructions packed with related products for additional precautions and information. • File these instructions in a safe place and refer to them when maintaining and/or reinstalling the product. Failure to follow all safety precautions and instructions may result in property damage, serious injury, or death to you or others. Mounting Brackets for Impaxx™ and Viper™ EXT This booklet has instructions for using the IPX-TRNK2 Mounting Brackets to install the Impaxx and Viper EXT lightheads in the trunk of a Dodge Charger. Unpacking the Kit After unpacking the kit, carefully check all envelopes, shipping labels, and tags before removing or destroying them. Ensure that the parts listed in Table 1 on page 2 are contained in the packing carton. This installation requires the hardware that came with the lightheads to attach them to the mounting bracket. 2 IPX-TRNK2 Mounting Brackets Table 1: Kit contents Qty. Installing the Brackets IMPORTANT: Plan all cable routing before the installation. 1. Position a bracket on a trunk brace and mark the centers of the three mounting holes (Figure 1). DRILLING PRECAUTIONS Before drilling holes, check the area you are drilling into to be sure you do not damage vehicle components while drilling. All drilled holes should be de-burred and all sharp edges should be smoothed. All wire routings going through drilled holes should be protected by a grommet or convolute/split loom tubing. 2. Use a #21 drill bit to drill three 0.159" holes in the trunk brace. Drill only through the trunk brace. 3. Route the wires from the lighthead through the bracket. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN SCREWS To avoid damage to the lightheads do not overtighten the screws. 4. Mount the lighthead to the bracket using the hardware supplied with the lighthead. The Impaxx mounts with the bezel; the Viper EXT mounts without the bezel. 5. Mount the lighthead/bracket assembly to the trunk brace with the #10 Type B screws. 6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 with the other brace. 7. Connect the Impaxx or Viper EXT lightheads as described in the instructions provided with the lightheads. IPX-TRNK2 Mounting Brackets 3 8. Test the lightheads for proper operation.
