CHANGES
General
We have enhanced the Today and Tomorrow date filtering options throughout the application to enable
you to select a specific number of days or business days before or after Today or Tomorrow. When you
select one of those filter options, the application uses the system date to display the appropriate data.

We have added the ability to print from the Actions > View Account Activity dialog. (Accounting CS
Ideas Community, #289)
Accounts Receivable
We have made the following enhancements to the Actions > Apply Customer Payments screen.
 We have added the Select all to apply command to the right-click context menu to enable you to
select multiple transactions to apply. For more information, see Apply Customer Payments screen.
 We have added the Apply Customer Payments Options dialog (accessed via Edit > Options), where
you can specify a default application journal and choose to apply transactions in multiple application
groups per customer. For more information, see Apply Customer Payment Options dialog.
Workpapers CS™



We have added the ability to customize the order of the source documents processed through Source
Document Processing. For more information, see Customizing the sort order of source documents in
the Workpapers Dashboard.
We have added the Source Document Processing Status portlet to the Firm Dashboard. For more
information, see Using the Source Document Processing Status portlet.
We have added the following forms to the list of supported documents for naming and organizing
within Source Document Processing: 1095-A, 1095-B, and 1095-C.
Import of client data from QuickBooks® Pro
The application now supports integration with QuickBooks 2015.
Reports


We have updated the following reports.
 The Adjusting Journal Entries and Consolidated Adjusting Journal Entries accounting
reports now include filtering and sorting options. (Accounting CS Ideas Community, #433)
 The Consolidated Trial Balance - Condensed, Consolidated Trial Balance - Detailed, Trial
Balance - Condensed, and Trial Balance - Detailed accounting reports now exclude zerobalance GL accounts by default.
 We have updated the Consolidated Subsidiary Trial Balance and Trial Balance - Segmented
accounting reports to address an issue that caused them to include some duplicated GL
accounts, in certain circumstances.
Note: If your firm has modified the predefined version of a report, the application will not overwrite
your existing report with an updated version. If this is the case, you will need to make the necessary
changes to your customized report manually, or you will need to restore the latest predefined version
using the Report Designer. To do the latter, select the report from the Reports list pane in the Report
Designer and then choose File > Restore Default.
We have addressed the following issues.
 During attempts to preview or print the General Ledger accounting reports, the application
closed unexpectedly when filtering options were selected in the Balances tab of the Filtering and
Sorting section of the report options and the Round Balances checkbox was marked for the
client’s Adjusted balance in the Balance Definitions dialog (accessed from the Accounting
Information tab of the Setup > Clients screen).
 Text was missing and shifted unexpectedly on certain pages after the Trial Balance Variance Five Year Comparison accounting report was previewed or printed when the By Account
Grouping checkbox was marked in the Regions to Include section of the report options.
Report Designer

 Payroll > Check > Deduction Items > Direct Deposit
 Payroll > Check > Employer Contributions > Direct Deposit

We have updated the Quantity variables in the Billing Activity > Invoice > Fee Details section of the
variable tree so they will not display the number of checks for check-based billing items for which Per
run is selected in the Calculation type field in the Setup > Firm Information > Billing Items screen.
We have updated the Next Check Date, Next Period Begin Date, and Next Period End Date variables
in the Client > Check Date > Payroll section of the variable tree to display based on the next payroll
schedule record that has a Not processed status, rather than based on the next payroll schedule
record after the system date. (Accounting CS Ideas Community, #864)
We have addressed an issue that caused the application to close with an out-of-memory error when
the Segment Selections dialog (accessed by clicking the Ellipsis button next to the Segments field in
Cell Properties or Column Properties of the Design Tools frame) was opened for clients with a large
number of segment codes across multiple account segments. The Segment Selections dialog now
uses filtering controls to select the necessary segment codes.

billing items for which Per run is selected in the Calculation type field in the Setup > Firm Information
> Billing Items screen.
General – Payroll







We have added the Create as historical (closed) checkbox to the Add Liability dialog (accessed from
the Actions > Manage Payroll Liabilities screen). This checkbox enables you to manually create
historical (closed) liabilities and maintain more accurate historical records. For more information, see
Adding historical or closed liabilities.
We have added the ability to choose to not apply retirement plan catch-up limits to a specific
retirement deduction for an employee. To apply this option for a deduction item, mark the Do not
apply catch-up limit checkbox in the Limits section on the Main tab of the Setup > Payroll Items
screen. To apply this option for a specific employee, mark the Do not apply catch-up limit checkbox in
the Employee Payroll Item Settings dialog, accessed from the Payroll Items tab of the Setup >
Employees screen. For more information, see Customizing settings for employee retirement catch-up
contributions and limits.
We have added the Require Birth date if active retirement plan deduction checkbox to the
Preferences tab of the Setup > Firm Information > Firm screen. This option enables you to require
that a birth date be entered for any employee for whom a retirement plan deduction is active.
(Accounting CS Ideas Community, #1184)
We have updated the workers’ compensation limits for 2015 for California and Ohio.
We have updated the application to accommodate changes to a number of state minimum wage
rates.

We have addressed an issue in the File > Print Billing Invoices screen that prevented the application
from saving overrides to invoice information.
We have addressed an issue in the Funding dialog (accessed from the Actions > Process Direct
Deposit screen) that, in certain circumstances, prevented the application from displaying transactions.
Payroll compliance





We have added the Actions > Verify W-2s screen to enable you to specify W-2 data as verified or
unverified by client or on an employee-by-employee basis prior to processing client W-2 forms. We
have also added a new filtering option to the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen for W-2
processing to filter clients by Verified or Not verified status. For more information, see Verify W-2s
screen.
We have added the ability to sort the Client ID and Client Name columns in the Form Selection grid of
the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen for W-2 and 1099 forms processing. (Accounting CS
Ideas Community, #1586)
We have added the Exclude 2-D barcodes on Forms W-2/W-3 checkbox to the Print Options dialog,
which is accessed from the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen for W-2 form processing.
Mark this checkbox to exclude the 2-D barcode from W2-W3 forms to improve the processing speed
or to conserve printer toner. For information on the advantages of using the 2-D barcodes, see
Printing W-2 forms.
We have updated the Client ID and Client Name filters in the Manage Electronic Forms dialog
(accessed from the Actions > Process Electronic Forms screen) to include inactive clients.
We have addressed an issue that, in certain circumstances, caused the application to display the
number of hours associated with tax-exempt wages on payroll tax forms.
Connecticut. Effective January 1, 2014, per the 2014 Connecticut Circular CT Employer’s Guide, the
State of Connecticut now requires that all employers file Form CT-W3 (drs) and Form W-2 Copy 1
electronically. Because the state will no longer accept paper copies, we have removed the Paper
filing method from these forms.
Montana. We have added the ability to create a zero-amount Form MW-3. Previously, if no wages
were subject to Montana withholding or no employees existed for the client record, the application
would not display the form. (Accounting CS Ideas Community, #1324)
North Carolina. We have removed Form NC-3M from the application because it became obsolete
with the addition of the updated Form NC-3.
Ohio
 We have added the ability to create a zero-amount magnetic file for Form OH JFS 20127.
 As of January 1, 2015, the state will require you to file payments for state and school district
income tax withholding returns using the Ohio Business Gateway, which you can access at
https:\\ohiobusinessgateway.ohio.gov\obg. The state is currently establishing a testing and
software transmission environment. Once we have been approved for filing, we will add FSET
filing methods, Electronic and Electronic with Payment, for Forms IT-501, IT-941, IT-942, SD-101,
and SD-141 in the Forms grid of the Payroll Taxes tab of the Setup > Clients screen to comply
with this requirement. Prior to approval, you can log in to the Ohio Business Gateway and use
alternate web file options.
Note: The charge for using FSET is $1 per transmission sent via CS Connect™. The state FSET
transmission is included for firms using the unlimited 940/941 transmission license.
Payroll form and filing information
The Payroll Form and Filing Information portlet on the Home or Firm dashboard provides the following
information: form approval status, form availability, available filing methods, form due dates, form filing
addresses, tax payment information (for all tax types), agency contact information, new hire reporting
information, payroll resources, and tax calendar (to view and print tax deposit due dates and form due
dates for all federal, state, and certain local tax agents). Click the applicable jurisdiction on the map to
display the federal, state, and local tax form information within the tabbed pages in the lower section of
the portlet. For information on working with portlets, enter Dashboard portlet: Payroll Form and Filing
Information in the search field on the application toolbar.

Accounting CS Payroll, for live payroll processing
In addition to the changes made for general payroll features listed above for after-the-fact payroll
processing, the following changes have been made for the live payroll processing features specific to
Accounting CS Payroll.
We have added the ability to enter a handwritten payroll check and automatically generate associated
liabilities in the Actions > Enter Batch Payroll Checks screen. To use this feature, choose Edit > Enter
Handwritten Payroll Check from the Enter Batch Payroll Checks screen. This feature is particularly useful
for preparing a final payroll check for a terminated employee.

Data conversion from Payroll CS to Accounting CS Payroll
 The application now imports the status indicated by the Exclude from catch-up provision checkbox in


the Calculating Payroll tab of the File > Client Properties window in Payroll CS into Accounting CS
Payroll. When the checkbox is marked in Payroll CS, the application marks the Do not apply catch-up
limit checkbox for all deduction items in Accounting CS Payroll that have a Retirement special type
selected in the Retirement/Cafeteria plan field in the Main tab of the Setup > Payroll Items screen.
The application now imports the status indicated by the Exclude from catch-up checkbox in the
Personal/W-2 tab of the Setup > Employees screen in Payroll CS into Accounting CS Payroll. When
the checkbox is marked in Payroll CS for an employee, the application marks the Do not apply catchup limit checkbox for all deduction items in Accounting CS Payroll that have a Retirement special type
selected in the Retirement/Cafeteria plan field in the Main tab of the Employee Payroll Item Settings
dialog (accessed from the Payroll Items tab of the Setup > Employees screen).
We have addressed issues that prevented the application from importing earnings in the following
situations.
 In certain circumstances when departments were selected for import.
 When an employer contribution item included earnings information without a calculation type.
