TracVision R6 DewShield™ Replacement
Instructions
®
The following instructions explain how to replace the DewShield
module (patent pending) in a TracVision R6.
Tools Required
•
#1 Phillips screwdriver
•
#2 Phillips screwdriver
•
Cutting pliers
CAUTION
For your own safety, be sure to disconnect power from all wired
components before performing this procedure.
IMPORTANT!
Trim the excess length from any tie-wraps you install. Be sure to
collect all trimmed portions from the antenna. If a portion of a tiewrap is lost within the antenna, it must be retrieved to avoid
causing damage when the unit rotates.
NOTE: PCBs (printed circuit boards) are static-sensitive. Ensure you take
the necessary grounding precautions before handling.

Step 1 - Disconnect and Remove the DewShield Module
a. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the eight
screws securing the radome to the baseplate. Remove
the radome and set it aside in a safe place.
IMPORTANT!
To preserve the integrity of the radome’s weather sealing
gasket, be sure to remove the radome slowly and gently.
Ensure that the gasket does not roll in any way.

Step 2 - Remove the Second DewShield Spacer (if necessary)
The new DewShield module requires a single spacer between it and
the rotating plate. If your system includes two spacers, you need to
remove one spacer. If your system includes only one spacer, skip to
“Step 3 - Install the Replacement DewShield Module.”

Step 3 - Install the Replacement DewShield Module
Reverse these instructions to install the replacement DewShield
module. Then reinstall the radome and reconnect power to the
TracVision system.
The procedure is complete! Be sure to return the old DewShield
module to KVH.
NOTE: Before returning the DewShield module, be sure to obtain an RMA
number from KVH Technical Support and write the number clearly on the
outside of the box. Shipments received without an RMA number will be
returned to you at your expense.
