Silent Suite – Silent Neuro Exam
Amidst the Silence,
We Heard the Patient Your patients enjoy a
quieter neuro exam
and you’ll experience
excellent image quality.
* Trademark of General Electric Company
Patients can now undergo a neuro exam with reduced anxiety due to the acoustic noise
of a typical MR exam while the clinician receives the excellent image quality needed to
make a confident diagnosis. The anxiety created by noise, up to or beyond 100 decibels,
can make the patient’s experience difficult and negatively affect clinical outcomes by
disrupting scan preparation or causing extended scan times.
The Silent Suite – Silent Neuro Exam clinical applications suite is available for Discovery*
MR750w and Optima* MR450w wide-bore systems with the GEM Suite of lighweight,
flexible coils. GE Silenz technology uses an innovative data acqusition method that
reduces noise from mechanical vibration. It allows you to acquire 3D MR data sets with
high isotropic resolution and very short echo times for image quality you would expect
from a conventional MR scan, with a fraction of
the noise. As a result, Silent Suite –
Silent Neuro Exam addresses the
patient experience of care.

Until now, attempts to reduce MR noise without compromising image quality have fallen short. Silent Suite –
Silent Neuro Exam technology uses a different approach, reducing the noise at the source: the interaction
between the MR magnetic field and the imaging gradients turning on and off. The three innovative
technologies are:
1. High fidelity power electronics
2. Ultra-fast RF switching capabilities
3. 3D Silenz data acquisition
The sound patients hear when they first walk in to the scan room is close to what they’ll hear when the Silent
Suite – Silent Neuro Exam begins, there’s no more than a three-decibel difference. That level of quiet has been
unheard of in MR, until now. Peace of mind takes on a whole new meaning when your patients are finally able to
relax and hear themselves think.
