Connect to DDDL/DDRS 7.08 SP2 or higher.
Turn ignition ON (key ON, engine OFF).
Perform Output Component Test.
Does the fault become active?
a. Yes; Go to step 6.
b. No; Go to step 5.
5. Repeat Output Component Test. The ignition must be cycled between each test. Does the fault become active?
a. Yes; Go to step 6.
b. No, clear the fault and release the vehicle.
6. Disconnect the line heater / Dosing Unit harness connector.
7. Inspect the sensor harness for bent, spread or corroded pins.
a. If the pins are bent, spread or corroded, repair as necessary.
b. If connector shows no signs of damage, repair the short to battery (12 volts) between pin 3 of the line heater 8-pin
harness connector and pin 22 of the ACM2.1 120-pin connector.

Output Component Test
1. Turn the ignition OFF (key OFF, engine OFF).
2. Disconnect the line heater/Dosing Unit 8-pin connector.
3. Inspect the sensor harness for bent, spread or corroded pins.
a. If the pins are bent, spread or corroded, repair as necessary.
b. If the connector shows no signs of damage, Go to step 4.
4. Disconnect the ACM2.1 120-pin connector.
5. Measure the resistance between pin 3 on the harness side of the line heater 8-pin connector and ground.
a. If the resistance is less than 10K ohms, repair the wire between pin 3 of the line heater 8-pin connector and pin 22
of the ACM2.1 120-pin connector.
b. If the resistance is greater than 10K ohms, replace the Dosing Unit.

Output Component Test
1. Disconnect the Dosing Unit.
2. Turn the ignition ON (key ON, engine OFF).
3. Measure the voltage between pin 3 on the harness side of DEF Dosing Unit connector and ground.
a. If the voltage is less than 11.5V, Go to step 4.
b. If the voltage is greater than 11.5V, repair the wire between pin 3 on the harness side of the DEF Dosing Unit
connector and pin 22 of the ACM2.1 120-pin connector.
4. Turn the ignition ON (key ON, engine OFF).
5. Disconnect the ACM2.1 120-pin connector. Measure the resistance between pin 3 on the harness side of the DEF
Dosing Unit connector and pin 22 of the ACM2.1 120-pin connector.
a. If the resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair the open wire between pin 3 of the DEF Dosing Unit connector and
pin 22 of the ACM2.1 120-pin connector.
b. If the resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair the open wire between pin 4 of the DEF Dosing Unit connector and
pin 3 of the ACM2.1 120-pin connector.
