STATEMENT OF LIMITED WARRANTY FOR THE IBM Personal System/2 Quick Charger
for Model L40 SX
International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) gives you the following
limited warranty for this IBM machine (Machine). IBM gives you this
limited warranty only if this Machine was originally purchased for use,
and not resale, from IBM, an IBM Authorized Dealer, an IBM Authorized
Industry Remarketer or an IBM approved Reseller. The Dealer, Remarketer
or Reseller must be authorized or approved by IBM to market this Machine.
Such a purchase is referred to in this Statement as "Original Purchase."
This Machine will be subject to this Statement of Limited Warranty only if
purchased and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
The Warranty Period duration is One Year. The Date of Original Purchase
is shown on the receipt which establishes your proof of Original Purchase.
That Date is the Machine's Date of Installation and starts its Warranty
Period.
Each Machine subject to this Statement of Limited Warranty will be newly
manufactured by or for IBM from new and serviceable used parts which are
equivalent to new in performance in this Machine.
IBM warrants that on this Machine's Date of Original Purchase it will be
in good working order and will conform to IBM's official published
specifications. IBM will make these specifications available to you upon
request. During this Machine's Warranty Period IBM or an IBM Authorized
Dealer or IBM Authorized Industry Remarketer will provide warranty service
at no additional charge except as set forth in this Statement. IBM will
refer to an IBM Authorized Dealer or Industry Remarketer in this Statement
as "Dealer" unless the context requires individual reference. You may
obtain warranty service if this Machine is 1) defective in material or
workmanship or 2) otherwise not in good working order. Warranty service
will be either repair or exchange, as determined by IBM. Warranty service

does not include repair of certain Machine failures. These failures
include those which are caused by an unsuitable environment, accident,
disaster, transportation, vandalism, misuse, abuse, another product or
device not under IBM warranty or IBM agreement service, non-IBM
modification, or service of the Machine by other than IBM or a Dealer.
Exchange service is not available to you if the Machine you present for
exchange is defaced, altered, in need of a repair not included in warranty
service or damaged beyond repair.
If this Machine is a feature or model conversion (Upgrade) this Statement
of Limited Warranty applies only when the Upgrade is used in a machine for
which it was designed. To obtain warranty service for an Upgrade, you may
be required to present the Upgrade with such machine.
If this Machine is a machine element, which you separately purchased, or
an accessory it has a three-month Warranty Period unless IBM specifies a
longer duration. Such Period commences on the Date of Original Purchase.
During the Warranty Period, you will remove any such machine element or
accessory which fails in normal use. You will then ship it, prepaid, to
the IBM location designated to receive such shipment. IBM, at its option,
will repair or replace such machine element or accessory. IBM's shipment
to you will be prepaid within the United States or Puerto Rico.
Before you present this Machine for warranty service, remove all programs,
data and removable storage media. A Machine or part provided to you as a
result of warranty service may not be new but will be in good working
order. Such Machine or part becomes your property. The replaced Machine
or part becomes the property of IBM or the Dealer.
You may be required to present proof of Original Purchase for this Machine
to IBM or a Dealer to obtain warranty service.
To obtain warranty service you should contact a Dealer for this Machine or
call IBM at 1-800-IBM-SERV.
You may be able to ship the Machine to an IBM location designated to
receive such shipment. You are responsible to prepay shipping charges and
to use the original shipping container or equivalent. You are also
responsible for risk of loss or damage in transit to and from IBM.
However, IBM is responsible for risk of loss of, or damage to, the Machine
while in IBM's possession or in transit from IBM by an IBM-selected
carrier whose charges IBM prepays, within the United States or Puerto
Rico. In addition, IBM is responsible for the Machine's loss or damage
due to IBM's negligence.
If this Machine was purchased directly from IBM you do not need to present
proof of Original Purchase to obtain warranty service from IBM. However,
you should contact IBM for proof of Original Purchase to obtain warranty
service for such Machine from a Dealer.
If you transfer this Machine to another user, warranty service under this
Statement is available to that user for the remainder of the Warranty
Period. Therefore, you should transfer the proof of Original Purchase and
this Statement to that user.
If you have any question about this limited warranty, contact your Dealer
or IBM approved Reseller. You may also call IBM Direct at 1-800-IBM-2468.
