INSTALLATION

Installation Procedure (Part 3 of 3)

9. Your Phoenix Swivel comes with all cables ready for installation as pictured.

When installing, ensure cables are positioned appropriately to allow sufficient slack so the Phoenix can rotate fully. Ensure cables do not get tangled.

10. Attach ‘Safety Switch Adapter’ to ‘Cover’ with bolt provided.

11. Ensure all cables are properly connected to control box as shown in the picture below. A layout similar to the picture shown below is recommended when setting up the unit in a cabinet. The Hand Controller may be outside of cabinet, along with the IR eye (if using supplied IR remote control).

12. Proceed to “Adjusting Motor Limits” on Page 11.

NOTE: Ensure Safety Cable is properly connected, otherwise lift will not run correctly.

CAUTION: Installer is responsible for ensuring that the screen’s cables are properly positioned as to not tangle and interfere with the swivel mechanism .

Using the hand controller, press the “up” button.

When the lift is at the desired height press the “down” button on the hand controller to stop it.

Use the remote to raise and lower the lift.

The lift will only move to the point set by the hand controller.

Page 11

OPERATION

Operation

You may operate your Phoenix Swivel with either the hand controller or IR remote control. When first using lift, refer to attached ‘Adjusting Motor Limits’ on the Page 11 for details on initializing motor legs and setting travel limits. As shown below, the Phoenix swivel is in its ‘home position’. That is, the correct position for the lift to lower back into the cabinet. As a safety precaution, the Phoenix Swivel will not lower until the home position has been reached (preventing the unit from hitting the cabinet and causing damage). When rotating to this position, it has a very positive feel and is obvious when correct. If for some reason the unit is moved from its home position while lowering, it will automatically begin to rise. To prevent unit from continuously swivelling (and thus tangling cables), a Stopper is used. This Stopper may be moved to 4 different positions around the Base Plate by removing the attached screws. This allows flexibility for all viewing angles.

CAUTION: The Phoenix Swivel should not be run up and down more than 4 times without a 10 minute break. Overheating will damage the Control Box.

CAUTION: If the Stopper is moved to another position, gently swivel unit at first to ensure there is enough slack in cabling. If more is required, adjust as necessary.

ACCESSORIES

Infrared (IR) Remote

You can operate the Phoenix Swivel with either the hand controller or IR remote control. When first using lift, please see Adjusting Motor Limits page.

The unit comes supplied and pre-wired with an Infra Red Remote Control Kit.

This can be easily learnt into a Universal IR remote.

Please note that the IR eye needs to be positioned so that there is line of sight between the remote control and the IR eye.

When installing it is advised that the control box be placed in an area with easy access.

IMPORTANT: The lift should not be run up and down more than 4 times without a 10 minute break. Overheating will damage the Control Box.

WIRING

Automating the Phoenix Swivel

The Phoenix Swivel can be integrated into most control systems using contact relays. To get the desired action, bridge the wires together briefly. See the table below for a summary of which wires can be bridged.

To set the Memory positions:

1. Run the lift to the desired position.

2. Activate “Store” and then “MemoryX” very quickly afterwards. (You have about 2 seconds after the store command)

3. After this, activating the Memory X command will run the lift to that position.

 power lead, hand controller, IR eye).

Check that a motor cable is plugged into the ‘Safety Adapter’ and that the

Safety Adapter is plugged into the control box

If using IR remote control, ensure line of sight between remote and IR eye

Phoenix Swivel Will Not Raise Past Desired Position:

 Reset travel limits

Phoenix Swivel Will Not Lower:

Check Cabling and that a motor cable is plugged into the ‘Safety Adapter’.

Unit is not in its correct home position

‘Safety cable’ is not plugged into ‘Safety Adapter’ correctly.

 Safety Adapter is not plugged into control box

If Phoenix Swivel will not lower, and you are certain that all suggestions above have been checked and are met; please refer to next page.

SUPPORT

Troubleshooting Tips (Advanced)

Clamping Base Tighter:

In the unlikely event that you find your Phoenix Swivel is rotating too freely, follow the steps below. The bases are properly tensioned from the factory and with the use of a lock washer, they should never need adjustment. However, over time the nylon disc separating the Base Plate and Turntable may wear slightly, leading to a slightly more ‘free moving’ swivel.

1. Remove screen from unit.

2. Note ‘nut’ and ‘lock washer’. Move the tabs on the lock washer down so the nut can be tightened. Tighten nut (clockwise direction) as necessary.

3. Position tabs on lock washer into the grooves cut into the nut, preventing the nut from rotating.

Troubleshooting Tips (Advanced)

WARNING: Follow this procedure only if all previous troubleshooting tips have been thoroughly checked. If adjustment is made incorrectly, damage to your screen and/or cabinet may result.

Begin by first removing the ‘Cover’ (As seen on page 6). Beneath this cover is a mechanism which strikes a ‘Limit Switch’ when the swivel unit is in the ‘home position’ (i.e. the safe position to lower into cabinet). If this limit is not struck, then the control box will not receive a signal to lower. The correct position is set in the factory, however on the unlikely event that it needs adjustment, do so as follows.

Ensure the unit is in the home position. Loosen the two Nyloc nuts holding the adjustment plate in place and move either in or out so that the limit is ‘just’ struck. Re-tighten nuts firmly so that adjustment plate is locked in the correct position. Test unit by swiveling to see whether limit is being properly struck. If adjusted properly, the Phoenix Swivel will only lower when in its home position.
