Replacing the Batteries
»b Make sure your hands are dry
when inserting the batteries.
b This razor requires 2 AA 1.5
volt alkaline batteries.
b Keep the razor at a temperature
between 40°F and 100°F.
y Do not leave the razor in direct
sunlight
EN Open the cover of the
battery compartment (fig. 1).
F1 Insert batteries as shown,
making sure the (+) and (-)
markings on the ends of the
batteries match those inside
the battery compartment
(fig. 2).
The razor will not operate if the
batteries are inserted incorrectly.
Put the battery cover back on
the razor and press down until
it “clicks” into position (fig. 3).
A new set of batteries provides
approximately 60 minutes of
shaving time,

Turn the razor ON by pushing
the locking ON/OFF button
and then sliding the switch
up (fig. 4).

to skin.

the ON/OFF switch down.

(see chapter 'Cleaning').

For optimal shaving results, replace
Philips Norelco razor heads (model
HO56) once a year:

After Every Shave: Razor
EB Turn razor OFF
Clean razor head slots with the
small brush (fig. 7).
El Press the razor head release
button (1) and remove the
Razor Head Assembly from the
razor housing (2) (fig. 8).
Brush out hairs from the inside
of Razor Head Assembly (fig. 9)
and hair chamber (fig. 10).
El Replace the Razor Head

Do not mix up the cutters and combs
EB Turn razor OFF
Press the razor head release
button (1) and remove the
Razor Head Assembly from the
razor housing (2) (fig. 8).
El Press the two sides of the
S-shaped spring together (1) and
remove the retaining frame (2)
(fig. 11).
El Slide and remove one cutter
and comb out of the retaining
frame (fig. 12).
Ed Separate the cutter from the
comb (fig. 13).
D Brush carefully in the direction
of arrows using the short-
bristled side of the cleaning
brush (fig. 14).
Brush the slots of the comb in
a circular motion with the long-
bristled side of the cleaning
brush (fig. 15).
