Package (CVP), SE Plus, SXT, Crew, R/T AWD, and R/T Rallye AWD.
Power and Efficiency
The Dodge Journey CVP, SE Plus and SXT are powered by a 2.4-litre 16-valve DOHC four-cylinder
engine, which produces 173 horsepower and 166 lb.-ft. of torque, linked to a four-speed automatic
transmission. This four-cylinder engine delivers 10.8 L/100km (26 mpg) in the city and 7.5 L/100 km
(38 mpg) on the highway. The award-winning 3.6-litre Pentastar™ VVT V6 engine, standard on Crew,
R/T AWD, and R/T Rallye AWD models, and available on SXT, produces 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft
of torque and is mated to a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission. The 3.6-litre Pentastar
VVT V6 engine was recognized as a Ward’s “10 Best Engines” winner for both 2011 and 2012. In
addition to excellent power, it delivers up to 12.6 litres per 100 kilometres (22 mpg) in the city and 7.8
litres per 100 kilometres (36 mpg) on the highway.
With a 5-year/100,000-km powertrain limited warranty, owners can rest assure knowing their Dodge
Journey is not just powerful and efficient, it’s well covered.
Craftsmanship and Attention to Detail
Dodge Journey offers levels of refinement not typically found in the crossover market. A beautifully
crafted one-piece instrument panel sets the tone. A standard Electronic Vehicle Information Centre
(EVIC) is positioned in the centre of the gauge cluster, which has a full-colour display backlit in Dodge
red lights, giving it a soft glow unlike any in the segment. The available and innovative Uconnect™ 8.4
N radio offers the largest touch-screen in its class measuring 8.4-inches. Integrated centre stack
bezels are sculpted, and designers softened the radius to make more room for the driver’s knees. The
centre console has extra cushioning on the wide tilt-and-slide armrest. Lift the lid, and there’s a large
centre storage bin with a 12-volt outlet and USB port where owners can hook up their MP3/iPod®
devices and keep them out of sight while charging. Also available is the Rear Seat Video Group that
includes a DVD player with a second row 9-inch video screen, six premium speakers and more.
Engineers also developed many treatments to reduce noise, vibration and harshness. One example is
the Journey’s dual dash silencer, which isolates the cabin, making for a nice, quiet ride.
The interior isn’t just a nice place to be, it also offers best-in-class versatility. Second and optional
third-row seats fold flat to create 1,914 litres (67.6 cu. ft.) of cargo space. Second-row seats recline
and have optional class-exclusive integrated child booster seats. There are also innovative storage
bins in the floor ahead of the second-row seats that can hold everything from soft-drink cans, to
concealing valuables like a camera or purse. With the standard second-row fold-flat seats and second
row in-floor storage, along with the available fold-flat front passenger seat, fold-flat third-row seats, and
front passenger in-seat storage, Dodge Journey has best-in-class storage.
Dodge Journey also offers some standard features not commonly found in the segment, such as power
heated and manual folding mirrors, dual-zone climate control, illuminated cup holders, 2nd row in-floor
storage, keyless Enter ’n Go™ with push button start and proximity entry, as well as a three-spoke
steering wheel with integrated audio and cruise controls.
Owners will feel like they have the world at their fingertips with the available 8.4-inch touch-screen
command centre, Uconnect™ 8.4 CD/MP3/SiriusXM™ Satellite radio. From available navigation to
available hands-free communication, the Uconnect media centre makes life in the Journey an excellent
adventure for the driver and passengers. Four Uconnect models are available, all featuring easy-to-use
controls and innovative technology. With its touch-screen display and user-friendly, touch-key
categories, connecting and controlling personal devices is simple, intuitive, and customizable.
Safety is Paramount
Dodge Journey is a 2012 IIHS Top Safety Pick and is loaded with over 40 standard and available safety
and security features, including standard advanced multistage driver and front passenger air bags,
side-curtain air bags covering all three rows, driver’s knee blocker air bag, front-seat side air bags,
reactive front head restraints, Electronic Stability Control with all-speed traction control, Electronic Roll
Mitigation, Brake Assist, and Trailer Sway Control, four-wheel disc antilock brakes, and LATCH child
seat anchor system just to name a few.
Confidence in Any Condition
The chassis architecture of the 2013 Dodge Journey delivers an exhilarating driving experience
coupled with precise steering for maximum control. Strong torsional stiffness in the steering column
intermediate shaft isolator, in conjunction with its rear suspension geometry, delivers precise steering
feel and a connected steering response. Enhanced for 2013, the R/T Rallye AWD comes equipped with
a more aggressive suspension tuning that gives a sportier ride and even greater handling precision for
Canadian roads that offer more twists and turns.
Dodge Journey also offers all-wheel-drive capability, perfect for drivers who want some extra grip for a
more performance feel, and appreciate the extra traction the all-wheel-drive system provides. The
Journey all-wheel-drive system works on demand, driving only the front wheels until power to the rear
wheels is needed to maximize fuel efficiency. This system provides added traction on snow, ice and
other low-traction surfaces without having to be switched on and off.
When travelling between speeds of 40 and 105 km/h, the Dodge Journey all-wheel-drive system sends
torque to the rear wheels when cornering with the throttle open to make the car turn more easily, which
makes the handling more neutral. This is more readily accomplished with Journey’s Electronically
Controlled Coupling (ECC) than with viscous-coupling or gerotor systems that require some degree of
front-to-rear slip before torque is transferred to the rear wheels. At speeds greater than 113 km/h, the
control strategy provides minimal torque to the rear wheels under normal driving conditions to provide
better fuel economy.
Dodge Journey features standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and all-speed traction control,
which help keep the crossover on path in a variety of road surface and weather conditions. Journey’s
available all-wheel drive electronic control module works with the ESC and traction control systems,
allowing the ESC system to use the electronically controlled coupling to help gain control of the vehicle,
reducing the amount of torque that the ECC transmits to the rear wheels. Four-wheel disc antilock
brakes and Electronic Roll Mitigation are also standard on all 2013 Dodge Journey models.
Exterior colours offered for the 2013 model year include Copper Pearl, Brilliant Red Tri-Coat Pearl,
Bright Silver Metallic, Storm Grey Pearl, White, Pearl White Tri-Coat, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl,
Winter Chill Pearl, Fathom Blue Pearl and Bright Red.
Manufactured in Toluca, Mexico, the 2013 Dodge Journey models will arrive in showrooms across
Canada in the third quarter of 2012.
