Frequently asked questions

The headroom requirement is the space needed above the top of the door for tracks, springs, etc. to allow the door to open properly. If the door is to be motor operated, 2-1/2” (64 mm) of additional headroom is required.

Backroom is defined as the distance needed from the opening back into the garage to allow the door to open fully. For door heights from 10’1” to 14’0”, refer to your operator manufacture installation instructions for appropriate depth into room.

Counterbalance spring tension must always be released before any attempt is made to start removing an existing door. A powerful spring releasing its energy suddenly can cause severe or fatal injury. To avoid injury, have a trained door systems technician, using proper tools and instructions, release the spring tension.

When connecting a drawbar operator type garage door opener to this door, a Wayne Dalton operator/ drawbar operator bracket must be securely attached to the top section of the door, along with any strut provided with the door. The installation of the drawbar operator must be according to manufacturer’s instructions, and force settings must be adjusted properly.

To adjust the top fixture, loosen the 5/16” - 18 hex nut on the 5/16” - 18 x 5/8” carriage bolt. The top fixtures will be tightened and adjusted later, in step, Adjusting Top Fixture.
