Routers for Business
Jive recommends that you use Adtran series routers. Adtran provides cost-effective enterprise
grade routers that can boost QoS and provide quantitative reports for support when needed.
As a rule, most enterprise grade routers will work when properly configured. But there are so
many models of routers that it’s difficult to know if a client’s existing hardware will work. We do
have a blacklist of devices that are known to have problems, and if your current device doesn’t
make it on this list, then it is likely to be compatible. However, Jive is only able to provide detailed
configuration instructions and assistance for the routers we sell directly. If there are any issues
with your existing router, Jive will be limited in the assistance we are able to provide, and we may
suggest the purchase of one of our supported routers.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
• Any Cisco RV series not specifically mentioned on the blacklist might work, but it may not be
consistent. Try updating the firmware first.
• Most D-Link and Netgear “home grade” routers will work for 1-4 handsets with minor
adjustments to settings.
• Modem/Router Combos or Cable Gateways (i.e. the kind that come from the DSL/cable
provider) can sometimes work for 1-4 handsets, but are not recommended.
