either an SE 5850 or SE 6000 host. The SE
5850 can accommodate up to 32 directly
connected units; the SE 6000 can manage
thousands of ACUs for even the largest
applications.
he Alto 818 is an advanced access
control unit that can manage the
security of a worldwide corporation
as easily as the security system of a single building. When integrated
with a Westinghouse Security Electronics host system, the Alto 818
provides virtually unlimited access control flexibility.
Maximum control
A complete proximity access control
and alarm monitoring system, the Alto 818
controls up to 8 entrances, monitors up to
32 input points, allows up to 11,200 individually numbered command keys, facilitates up to 120 unique access codes, and
stores up to 4,000 event logs.
The Access Control Unit (ACU) monitors and controls up to eight Multiple
Switch Monitors (SE 774A), each monitoring four input points. Power supply options
include a power module developed
exclusively for the Alto 818 (SE 3018), or
one with battery backup capability that
provides continuing operation if power fails
(SE3718S). An eight-point annunciator
device (SE 778A) is also available for
additional relay output or building mode
control.
BASIC
Multiple reader technology
Further enhancing system flexibility,
Alto 818 controllers support multiple
access control and reader technologies.
The Alto 818SX supports analog proximity
sensors and keypads, plus compact,
medium-range, standard, non-incendive and
intrinsically safe sensors.The 818SC is
identical to the 818SX but also adds
support for DigiReader™ and smart card
readers.Though the 818SC does not
support medium-range analog sensors, its
support for digital technologies gives the
818SC a read range from four to 36
inches* when used with the Westinghouse
family of digital readers.
Fully networkable
The Alto 818 is fully functional as a
stand-alone system, or it can be linked with
multiple units from a central location using

• In new and remodeled office buildings,
hospitals, industrial buildings, government
installations or universities where an
integrated access control and alarm
monitoring system is required.
• In organizations that want access control
at multiple locations but not the
expense of hiring additional security
personnel.
• At locations requiring a distributed security system with central management
that allows access to multiple sites using
a single proximity card.
• Where reliable and proven proximity
technology is needed to control access
and to track cardholders.
• Anywhere control and reporting
functions for an access control system
can be used in conjunction with a WSE
host.
• In facilities requiring a multiple
Command Key program
• In facilities where a stand-alone or integrated security management system is
required to reduce overall security costs
• In applications that range over entire
facilities, or within specified floor areas.
• In applications where modular system
design with non-obsolescence is needed.
