Frequently asked questions

You can adjust the volume or sensitivity using the rotary wheel control on the top of the processor. The recommended setting is usually 5 to 6.

The mode setting switch can be set to 'M' for general use, 'W' for listening in a quiet environment, or 'T' for use with a hearing aid compatible telephone or an induction loop.

You can connect accessories to the ESPrit 3G using the accessories adaptor socket at the base of the device. The accessories adaptor plugs into the socket and then you can connect the accessory cable to the adaptor.

To change the batteries in the ESPrit 3G, grip each side of the battery cover and squeeze. Then pull the cover down and off. The three batteries should be replaced at the same time. The batteries only fit in one way up (with positive side up).

To remove the transmitting cable, you need to remove the battery cover. Once the cover is removed, you can then detach the cable plug from the socket.

The magnet helps to keep the ESPrit 3G securely in place on your head. You can turn the magnet anti-clockwise to loosen the hold or clockwise to tighten it. Do not change the magnet strength without consulting the clinic.

The processor is switched on and off using the switch next to the rotary wheel at the top. There are two program slots available and the implant centre will advise which one is activated for general use, usually P1.
