Crescendo 30.5 & 30.6 System Instructions

Crescendo 30.5 & 30.6 System Instructions
Crescendo 30/5 & 30/6
The sound output levels from this system can be very high. It is
recommended that the volume control should be turned to the "OFF"
position before changing the battery or plugging in or unplugging the
headphones or microphone.
Instructions for use
1. The amplifier will need charging before first use. See battery recharging section.
2. Plug the microphone into the socket marked <MIC> and the neck loop/ear loop into the
socket marked <PHONES>.
3. Attach the microphone to the television speaker grille using one of the self-adhesive
Velcro pads supplied. Peel off the backing paper and press the pad firmly in place. The
Velcro already on the microphone will then fasten to the pad if lightly pressed in place.
To remove the microphone, pull it away gently. The microphone may be used on other
equipment such as a radio or Hi-Fi.
4. Place the neck loop around your neck or the ear loop alongside your hearing aid. Switch
your hearing aid to the “T” or “MT” position.
5. Set the television to the normal listening level for the other members of your household
and turn the Crescendo's volume control clockwise until the desired volume is reached.
Remember to switch off the amplifier when not in use by turning the knob fully anticlockwise, when a "click" will be felt.
6. The amplifier is fitted with a 3 position switched Tone control on the side. In the
<HIGH> position the amplifier will emphasise the higher frequency range and in the
<LOW> position the lower frequency range. In the <NORM> position the high or low
frequencies are not emphasised.
The product should give a long and trouble-free service if the following points are observed.
• Treat the leads carefully, they are quite thin in order to be convenient and comfortable to
• DO NOT wrap the leads around the amplifier.
• DO NOT leave leads trailing across the floor to be tripped over.
Battery Recharging
To recharge the amplifier plug the charger into the charger socket on the side on the
amplifier and into a mains socket. Make sure the mains socket is switched on. The amplifier
should be fully charged in about 12-14 hours.
It is recommended that the unit is allowed to run down, rather than putting it on charge
frequently. The battery will give about 60-80 hours use before recharging is necessary. The
system can also be used whilst it is being recharged. The system has been designed to
prevent damage caused by overcharging but it should not be left on charge for more than 24
The internal battery pack will eventually wear out and will have to be replaced. Sarabec offer
a battery replacement service, please contact the company for details. No attempt should be
made to replace the battery pack.
The charger supplied with the Crescendo 30 amplifier has been designed specifically for the
purpose. The use of other types may damage the system. Replacement chargers are available
from Sarabec.
