IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS VACUUM CLEANER.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury:

• Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.

• Do not leave vacuum cleaner when plugged in. Turn off the switch and unplug the electrical cord when not in use and before servicing.

• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.

• Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments.

• Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If vacuum cleaner is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to a service center before using.

• Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners.

Do not run vacuum cleaner over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

• Do not use extension cords or outlets with inadequate current carrying capacity.

• Turn off all controls before unplugging.

• Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.

• Do not handle plug or vacuum cleaner with wet hands.

• Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce airflow.

• This vacuum cleaner creates suction and contains a revolving brushroll. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.

• Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.

• Do not use without dust bag in place.

• Belt pulleys can become hot during normal use. To prevent burns, avoid touching the belt pulley when servicing the drive belt.

• Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

• Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.

• Store your cleaner indoors in a cool, dry area.

• Keep your work area well lighted.

• Unplug electrical appliances before vacuuming them.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider then the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fully fit into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do NOT change the plug in any way.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE

(FIG. 1)

CAUTION: Assemble the cleaner completely before plugging into an electrical outlet. Make sure the switch is in the OFF position.

To assemble the cleaner, find the powerhead ● and the body

● . Align the connector on the powerhead ● with the receptacle on the body ● and press together until they click into place.

HOW TO USE

CAUTION: Turn off the switch ● and unplug the electrical cord before changing the pleated filter. Never operate the vacuum cleaner without the dust cup or the pleated filter.

Power Switch

Top position is OFF. Middle position, marked FLOOR, is for floor cleaning and cleaning with accessories (brushroll does not turn).

Bottom position, marked CARPET, is for cleaning carpets

(brushroll turns).

Locked Brushroll Indicator

(FIG. 2)

The brushroll indicator ● will illuminate brightly when the brushroll motor has been locked up due to debris or some other excessive loading of the brushroll. Slide the power switch ● to the off position and check the brushroll area for obstructions.

After clearing the brushroll area, start the vacuum and the brushroll will turn again.

CAUTION: Pulleys can be hot from normal use, to avoid burns do not touch pulleys.

Cord Retainer

(FIG. 3)

When preparing to use vacuum, firmly push the electrical cord down into the cord retainer ● . This will place the electrical cord out of the way while you vacuum.

Handle Collapse Button

To collapse the handle from the upright position, press handle collapse button ● , rotate handle down.

Cord Storage Hooks

(FIG. 3)

This unit has two convenient cord storage hooks ● attached to the handle. Wind the cord around the hooks and fasten the plug to the cord to prevent unwinding.

El indicador de cepillo trabado ● se ilumina cuando el motor del mismo se ha trabado debido a alguna basura o cuando la carga sobre el cepillo es excesiva. Deslice el interruptor ● de corriente a la posición OFF (Apagado) y revise el área del cepillo para ver si hay alguna obstrucción. Después de limpiar el área del cepillo circular, encienda la aspiradora y el cepillo circular comenzará nuevamente a girar.

PRECAUCIÓN: Las poleas pueden calentarse durante el uso normal. Para evitar quemaduras, no las toque.

HOW TO USE ACCESSORIES

Step 1: Collapse the handle from the upright position.

Step 2: The dusting brush ● and upholstery nozzle fit on both the hose and the wand with a built-in crevice tool ● .

Step 3: Use the dusting brush ● to dust furniture, blinds, books, lamps, and shelves.

Step 4: The crevice tool ● is molded onto the end of the wand.

It cleans corners, base boards, between cushions.

Step 5: Hose elbow rotates for easy use of the hose and attachments.

To disconnect hose for inspection of blockages, align notch on top of elbow with arrow on main body. Check for blockages and clear if necessary. Align notch on top of elbow with arrow on main body to reconnect.

HOW TO MAINTAIN

CAUTION: Turn off the switch ● and unplug the electrical cord before changing the pleated filter. Never operate the vacuum cleaner without the dust cup or the pleated filter.

Hint: When cleaning new carpet for the first time, cup will fill quickly. Check often.

The instructions given in this booklet serve as a guide to routine maintenance. To avoid unnecessary service calls, check the dust cup, filter, belt, and brushroll often. Empty the dust cup if it is full; clean the filter, replace the belt if it is stretched or cracked, and clean the brushroll bristles if they are wrapped with thread and hair.

To Change Dust Cup Pleated Filter, Style

DCF6, PN 62137

Remove the dust cup by pressing down on the dust cup latch ● and pulling dust cup away from cleaner body. When replacing the dust cup put bottom of dust cup in place by aligning tabs in slots and pivot dust cup up against the cleaner body. Lift up on dust cup latch to secure in place.

PRECAUCIÓN: Apague el interruptor de corriente ● y desenchufe el cordón eléctrico antes de cambiar el filtro plisado.

No encienda la aspiradora si no ha colocado el recipiente para el polvo y el filtro plisado.

Consejo: Cuando se limpia una alfombra por primera vez, el recipiente para el polvo se lleva enseguida. Revíselo con frecuencia.

Las instrucciones que se ofrecen en este cuadernillo sirven como guía para llevar a cabo un mantenimiento rutinario. Para evitar llamadas innecesarias relacionadas con el servicio, revise con frecuencia el recipiente para el polvo, el filtro, la correa y el cepillo circular. Vacíe el recipiente para el polvo si se encuentra lleno. Limpie el filtro, reemplace la correa si se encuentra estirada o agrietada, y limpie las cerdas del cepillo circular si hay muchos hilos o cabellos enroscados en él.

HOW TO MAINTAIN

Check and clean the Pleated Filter ● once a month to maintain good performance. The filter can be cleaned by washing with mild detergent and warm water. Be sure pleated filter is completely dry before reinstalling.

To Clean the Pleated Filter:

Step 1: Remove dust cup from cleaner body (FIG. 5).

Step 2: Remove dust cup lid ● by grasping lid handles and lifting up (FIG. 7).

Step 3: To release the pleated filter ● from dust cup lid ● , press latch in the bottom lid handle. Pull pleated filter away from dust cup lid.

Step 4: To remove debris, tap filter against waste container or brush off. You may also vacuum the filter using a different cleaner. If filter needs further cleaning, wash in warm water using a mild detergent. To clean between filter pleats, fan open under running water.

Step 5: When all parts are completely dry, reattach pleated filter

● to dust cup lid ● and follow the above steps in reverse to reassemble.

Note: Do not put any parts in a dishwasher.

Note: Your dust cup filter may need to be replaced if cleaning it does not restore cleaning performance.

Note: To maintain optimum performance, change dust cup filter every 12 months.

Emptying the Dust Cup:

It is clearly visible when the dust cup is full and needs emptying.

Remove dust cup from cleaner body. Remove dust cup lid ● from dust cup by grasping lid handles and lifting up. Then dump debris in a waste container.

Reinstalling the Dust Cup

Grasp the dust cup lid ● by the lid handles and sit back on top of dust cup. It will fit only one way. To replace the dust cup, put bottom of dust cup in place by aligning tabs in slots and pivoting dust cup up against the cleaner body. Lift up on dust cup latch to secure in place.

Revise y limpie el filtro ● plisado una vez al mes para mantener un buen rendimiento. El filtro se puede limpiar empleando una solución de agua tibia y detergente suave.

Asegúrese que el filtro se encuentre completamente seco antes de volverlo a instalar.

Para limpiar el filtro plisado

Paso 1: Retire el recipiente para el polvo del cuerpo de la aspiradora (FIG. 5).

Paso 2: Agarre y tire hacia arriba las agarraderas de la tapa para quitarla (FIG. 7).

Paso 3: Presione la palanquita de fijación que encontrará en la agarradera inferior para soltar el filtro ● plisado de la tapa ● del recipiente. Tire del filtro plisado para retirarlo de la tapa.

Paso 4: Para eliminar la suciedad, golpee ligeramente el filtro contra un basurero o bien cepíllelo. También puede aspirar el filtro empleando otra aspiradora. Si el filtro necesita una limpieza más profunda, lávelo empleando una solución de agua tibia y detergente suave. Para limpiar entre los pliegues del filtro,

ábralo en forma de abanico debajo del agua corriente.

Paso 5: Cuando todas las piezas se encuentren completamente secas, vuelva a calzar el filtro ● en la tapa ● del recipiente para el polvo y siga los pasos anteriores a la inversa para volver a armarlo.

Nota: No coloque ninguna de las piezas en el lavaplatos.

Nota: Si después de limpiarlo la aspiradora no parece recuperar un buen rendimiento, puede que tenga que cambiar el filtro del recipiente para el polvo.

Nota: Para mantener un máximo rendimiento, cambie el filtro del recipiente para polvo cada 12 meses.

Vaciado del recipiente para el polvo

Es claramente visible cuando el recipiente para el polvo se encuentra lleno y necesita que se lo vacíe. Retire el recipiente para el polvo del cuerpo de la aspiradora. Agarre y tire hacia arriba las agarraderas de la tapa ● para quitarla del recipiente. Luego arroje toda la suciedad en un basurero.

Para volver a instalar el recipiente para el polvo

Agarre la tapa ● por las agarraderas y vuelva a situarla sobre el recipiente para el polvo. Calza de una sola manera. Para volver a colocar el recipiente para el polvo, ubique el fondo del mismo en el lugar correspondiente alineando las aletas en las ranuras y empujando la parte superior del recipiente contra el cuerpo de la aspiradora. Para fijarlo en el lugar, empuje hacia arriba la palanquita de fijación ● .

CAUTION: Turn off the switch ● and unplug the electrical cord before removing or working on the nozzle.

Replace Brushroll Belt

Step 1: Remove the 11 screws on the bottom of the power nozzle. Flip the power nozzle back upright and remove the hood (FIG. 9).

Step 2: Remove broken or worn brushroll belt. Pinch new brushroll belt together and position new belt so teeth engage cog pulley ● on end of motor shaft (FIG. 10).

Step 3: Place the other end of belt around brushroll. Align left end of brushroll into the base by rotating slightly until brushroll end cap slides into place (FIG. 11).

Secure right end of brushroll into base.

Step 4: The brushroll belt is now installed.

Step 5: Reinstall hood.

Replace Brushroll Belt, PN 61429.

Brushroll

As the brushroll rotates, it sweeps and combs the carpet nap.

Remove hair and threads from the brushroll so it continues brushing the carpet nap. Check brushroll occasionally for hair or string that may have wrapped around dowel. Remove with scissors.

When bristles have worn to about 1/4” in length, carpet cleaning effectiveness will be reduced. It is time to replace the brushroll.

Follow the instructions in the brushroll belt section to open up the power nozzle and replace the brushroll.

Cepillo circular

How to Remove Blockages

Turn the unit over on its top, brushroll ● facing up. Remove the two screws ● holding the access door ● to the clean out port

● . Remove any blockages from the clean out port and brushroll areas, then replace the access door and two screws.

AUTOMATIC MOTOR SHUT-OFF

To protect from overheating, this vacuum cleaner is equipped with a thermostat which automatically shuts off the suction motor if it overheats. Should this happen:

Step 1: Turn off the switch ● and unplug the cleaner because the thermostat will allow the cleaner to automatically start running again when the motor cools

(approximately 30 minutes).

Step 2: Check the dust cup and filter regularly, as a full dust cup or dirty filter could cause the motor to overheat.

Step 3: Call a Eureka Authorized Warranty Station if the cleaner will not operate after cooling for approximately

30 minutes.

What This Warranty Covers

Your Eureka cleaner is warranted to be free from all defects in material and workmanship in normal household use for a period of one year.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover
