MTS 643 Compression Platens are made of
case-hardened alloy steel (RC58 minimum)
for long life and minimal wear. Concentric
rings etched on the surface let you visually
center your specimen without adversely
affecting test results.
The upper platen is available on a
spherical seat for improved alignment
and ensuring even pressure across the
entire surface of the specimen.
Platens are available for maximum
specimen diameters from 60 to 305 mm
(2.4 to 12 inches) and for unit stresses up
to 690 MPa (100,000 psi) static or 276 MPa
(40,000 psi) dynamic (with the specimen
centered on the platens). Their temperature
range is from –129 to +177°C (–200 to
+350°F).
