You can modify the radio for out-of-band operation by following the instructions in the viewed document. You will need to remove some screws and solder jumpers on the "CONTROL UNIT" board. Be careful to keep the multiconductor trace intact.

To program the radio, first turn it on. The display will show 1.000. Program the lower receive frequency, then push the VFO key. The memory channel should move to "2". Now program the upper receive frequency. The memory channel should move to "3". Do the same for lower and upper transmit frequencies.

To reset or reprogram the radio, turn the power off, press MR, 2, and VFO at the same time. While holding these buttons, turn the power on and restart programming.
