INTRODUCTION
Recent Webroot research conducted with over two thousand smart device users shows that more than 40 percent of them are using
smart phones and tablets for work. Employer research is estimating usage of personal devices for work even higher, at over 60
percent. Today’s mobile phones and tablets have the power to hold the valuable data once only found on PCs and laptops. Protection
and security for mobile devices must become a priority.
Mobile devices contain personal data like contacts, emails, photos and social networking, personal banking and other apps, as well as
corporate documents, email, and other sensitive business information. This concentration of valuable data means that mobile devices
are now being targeted both by physical theft, malware and malicious apps to steal data, identities and more. The evidence is the
meteoric growth in mobile device exploits, whether it’s super expensive SMS and premium call lines or malicious PUAs (Potentially
Unwanted Apps) that request excessive permissions so they can ‘legally’ steal data.
The following is answers to some of the questions we expect you will receive about the Webroot SecureAnywhere® Business – Mobile
Protection solution and how it works to protect devices from the different threats they face.
MALWARE EFFECTIVENESS
Q: What types of antimalware defenses does Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Mobile Protection offer?
A: Webroot Business - Mobile Protection offers Antivirus (Android only), malicious and PUA application scanning, File system,
Execution and Unknown Source Security Shields with instant access to the Webroot Intelligence Network, to ensure real-time malware
protection and super-fast and efficient malware scans.
Q: Does Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Mobile Protection protect against phishing attacks?
A: YES. Webroot offers world-leading anti-phishing defenses that are able to determine in seconds whether a website is a phishing site
with 99%+ accuracy – literally, even if a site is only a few minutes old – Webroot protects. We do that by performing over 200 checks
using the Webroot Intelligence Network to instantly identify and block phishing attacks as they happen. This detection breakthrough
is important as phishing sites are transient by nature, with most existing for 11 hours or less, to avoid detection by normal security
detection approaches. We also protect against all types of malicious websites.
Q: Do I really need mobile security? I’ve heard the risks are slim.
A: YES. Mobile device theft and loss are very common, so having loss and theft protection is essential. Mobile malware was almost
negligible two years ago but now there are well over a million types of Android malware and app threats, plus a growing volume of
Apple malware, too. App security and anti-malware (for Android) is essential for everyone these days.
Q: Do I really need a secure browser on my mobile device?
A: YES. There are overlooked web browsing risks that are very dangerous. With over 50% of Internet access via smart mobile devices,
Internet browser attacks and malware are becoming quite common. A secure web browser ensures that these threats are minimized
and that what you input when online is kept secure – especially useful if staff use a mobile device to access company systems via
your mobile browser or do personal online banking.

Q: Does Webroot protect against bad IP addresses and IPs with bad reputation?
A: YES. Webroot leverages Webroot BrightCloud and the Webroot Intelligence Network to provide the latest malicious Web and IP
reputation protection data.
Q: Does Webroot perform malicious app inspection?
A: YES. Using the Webroot Intelligence Network, we scan every app for malware and monitor device resource usage by that app.
Webroot’s mobile protection covers all these different threats – loss or theft, malware, malicious apps and web browsing risks.
DEVICE & DATA ACCESS CONTROL
Q: Does Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Mobile Protection enforce passcodes?
A: YES. Mobile Protection will even enforce a minimum passcode length, as well as type and strength for alphabetical, PIN or
pattern passcodes.
Q: Does Webroot SecureAnywhere® Business Mobile Protection define Wi-Fi, VPN, Exchange ActivSync and other email accounts?
A: YES. Mobile Protection provides policy control for iOS® devices for all of these: email, Exchange ActiveSync, Wi-Fi and VPN connections.
Q: Does Webroot provide remote device locking (kill switch) or unlocking?
A: YES. Webroot provides over-the-air device locking and unlocking with the enforced password required to unlock the device. For iOS
devices, Clear Passcode is the unlock equivalent.
Q: Does Webroot provide device location/scream capability?
A: YES. The administrator has access to remote device location and scream controls.
Q: Does Webroot provide SIM card locking?
A: YES. This feature is currently only available for Android™ devices. The device is locked if the SIM card is removed or exchanged.
Q: Does Webroot provide device wiping?
A: YES. Remote device wipe will restore the device to factory settings.
MANAGEMENT/FUNCTIONALITY
Q: Does the Webroot support over-the-air deployment?
A: YES. Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Mobile Protection is managed through an online management console that is available via
almost any browser from any location. It provides full remote management.
Q: Does the management console have granular policy capabilities, e.g. setting up a different policy by Group or individual user?
A: YES. The management console offers a customized group structure that can be configured based on your policy criteria.
However, because of differences in operating systems, Android device policies are separate from iOS device policies for both
groups and individuals.

Q: Does the management console provide a dashboard?
A: YES. There is an instant mobile device status dashboard that shows any devices needing attention.
Q: Does the management console provide out-of-policy and scheduled alerts?
A: YES. The console allows you to set up scheduled alerting so administrators are always informed of any security alerts. It also
provides alerting if a user bypasses a policy setting.
Q: Does the management console support automated scan frequencies and definition updates?
A: YES, but only for the Android platform. Webroot does not currently support antivirus scanning for iOS devices.
DEVICE IMPACT
Q: Does Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Mobile Protection impact device performance?
A: BARELY. Our design philosophy and architecture, along with our cloud-driven approach, mean we strive to impact device
performance as little as possible. Mobile Protection, as well as other Webroot solutions, use very little CPU, bandwidth, memory or
battery resources.
Q: Does Mobile Protection scan efficiently?
A: YES. Like all Webroot solutions, Mobile Protection uses the cloud-based security analysis of the Webroot Intelligence Network, so
scanning is highly efficient and very light on device resource usage.
Q: Are malware updates automatic? (Android devices only)
A: YES. Users’ malware protection is updated automatically.
