| Chapter 1
Installing/Upgrading on Windows Systems
System Requirements
Before starting the installation procedure, review the following subsections to
determine that your system meets the system requirements.
Operating Systems
TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) can be installed on a system running one of the
following Microsoft Windows operating systems:
Operating System
Microsoft Windows Server 2003, SP2 (32 bit)
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64 bit)
(must be run in 32-bit mode)
Microsoft Windows Vista
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Server, or
Advanced Server, SP 4 or newer
Microsoft has discontinued standard support for Windows 2000 and Windows
XP. (Extended support is still available, but must be purchased from Microsoft.)
TIBCO will continue to support the TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) client
application on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. However, if a problem with the
TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) is reported to TIBCO Support, and the problem is
traced to the Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating system, TIBCO Support
will be unable to assist further with the resolution of that problem.
TIBCO therefore recommends that you use Windows Vista, Server 2003, or Server
2008 instead of Windows 2000 or Windows XP on any system that runs the TIBCO
iProcess Objects (Java).
Java Development Kit / Virtual Machine
You must also be using the following JDK/Virtual Machine in your development
environment:
•
Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.5 or later
•
Virtual Machine (VM) included with the JDK 1.5 or later

Installation / Upgrade Procedure
To install/upgrade the TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) on your computer:
1. Run the TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) Setup program. If you are
installing/upgrading from:
— CD-ROM: Run Setup from the root directory.
— a network server: Ask your network administrator for the location of
Setup and run it from there.
2. Review the information in the Welcome dialog and click Next. The TIBCO
End User License Agreement is displayed.
3. Read the license agreement.
— If you do not agree with the terms of the license agreement, click No to exit
the setup program.
— If you agree with the terms of the license agreement, click Yes to continue
with the installation.
The Choose Destination Location dialog is displayed.
4. Specify the Destination Folder where you want to install/upgrade the TIBCO
iProcess Objects (Java) files. The destination folder defaults to:
C:\Program Files\Staffware\Staffware EntObjJava
The Select Components dialog is displayed.
— If a CLASSPATH environment variable does not currently exist on your
system, the Select Components dialog will contain a check box that allows
you to specify that the variable should be created. If you check the box to
create the variable, the installation directory is written to the variable.
— If a CLASSPATH environment variable already exists on your system, but
you have specified an installation directory that does not yet exist in the
variable, the Select Components dialog will contain a check box that
allows you to specify that the variable should be updated with the new
installation directory.
— If a CLASSPATH environment variable already exists on your system, and
you have specified an installation directory that already exists in the
variable, the Select Components dialog will not contain a check box about
creating or updating the variable.
5. If the check box concerning the CLASSPATH environment variable is
displayed, check or uncheck it as appropriate, then click Next.
TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) Installation

| Chapter 1
Installing/Upgrading on Windows Systems
Setup copies the appropriate files to your system — see Installed Files /
Directories on page 4.
When Setup completes copying files, the Setup Complete dialog is displayed.
If you had checked the box on the Select Components dialog to either create
or modify the CLASSPATH environment variable, this dialog will inform you
that your system needs to be rebooted to activate the CLASSPATH variable
with your new installation directory. It will contain radio buttons allowing
you to specify whether your machine should be restarted now.
6. If the Setup Complete dialog contains the restart radio buttons, select one as
appropriate.
7. Click Finish to complete the installation/upgrade.
Installed Files / Directories
The following files and directories are installed in the TIBCO iProcess Objects
(Java) installation directory:
File/Directory
Description
SWEOJNI.dll
Provides the TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) functionality.
SWEntObj
This directory contains source and class files — the source
files should not be re-distributed. The class files provide a
Java wrapper to the functionality provided by the
SWEOJNI.dll file.
icudt36.dll
Data table used for Unicode support.
icuuc36.dll
Unicode converter used to convert from Unicode to other
character sets.
SPOJavaHelp
This directory contains the HTML-based help system.
Execute the start.htm file to start.
license65.txt

Preparing to Install
Extracting the Installation Set from the Product CD
1. Log in as root.
2. cd to the /tmp directory.
3. Mount the product CD.
4. Use the tar command to extract the installation set from the spojava.tar file on
the product CD into the installation directory:

Installing/Upgrading on UNIX Systems
Installation / Upgrade Procedure
To install or upgrade the TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java):
1. Log in as root.
2. cd to the /tmp/spojavainstall directory.
3. Run the spojinstall installation script using the command:
# ./spojinstall
The TIBCO End User License Agreement is displayed.
4. Read the license agreement. You can:
a. Press Enter to step through the license agreement one line at a time.
b. Press the space bar to step through the license agreement one page at a
time.
After reading through the entire agreement, the following prompt is
displayed:
Do you agree to the above license terms? [yes or no]
5. You can respond to this prompt in one of the following ways:
— If you do not agree to the terms of the license agreement, type n, then press
Enter. This causes the installation script to exit.
— If you agree to the terms of the license agreement, type y, then press Enter.
The installation script continues. It displays the version and copyright
details, then checks to see if a previous installation exists in /usr/sweojni.
6. Respond accordingly to the prompt, depending on whether or not the
installation script found a previous installation:
— If an existing installation is found in /usr/sweojni, you are prompted to
either upgrade and overwrite these files or choose a different directory in
which to install a new version.
Enter Y to confirm the upgrade to the default directory or enter N to install
the files to a new directory. If you enter N, you are prompted to enter a new
installation directory (InstallDir).
The spojinstall script then prompts you to confirm that the installation
directory is correct before installing the TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) files.
— If no previous installation exists in /usr/sweojni, you are prompted that
this is a new installation. You can choose to install the TIBCO iProcess
Objects (Java) files into the default directory (/usr/sweojni) or you can
choose your own directory.
TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) Installation
Installation / Upgrade Procedure 9
|
Enter Y to accept the default directory or N to specify your own installation
directory. If you enter N, you are prompted to enter a new installation
directory (InstallDir).
The spojinstall script then prompts you to confirm that the installation
directory is correct before installing the TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) files.
Before the spojinstall script copies TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) files to the
installation directory, it first deletes ALL files and sub-directories from the
installation directory. If there are any files and/or sub-directories in the
installation directory that you want to retain, save them in another location before
performing the final step in the installation process.
7. Enter Y to confirm the installation directory is correct. If you enter N, you are
prompted to enter a new installation directory (InstallDir).
All the .java and .class files are installed into a sub-directory called SWEntObj,
which is the package name. This directory cannot be changed or the classes will
become inaccessible.
The spojinstall installation script then:
— Copies the TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) files to the indicated directory.
— Changes the ownership of all TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) directories and
files to root, and sets the appropriate file and directory permissions.
— Deletes the installation script.
— Reminds you to check that the applicable environment variable (operating
system specific) includes the installation directory. The applicable
environment variables for the supported operating systems are listed
below:
AIX: LIBPATH
HP-UX: SHLIB_PATH
Solaris: LD_LIBRARY_PATH
Linux: LD_LIBRARY_PATH
When the script has finished, TIBCO iProcess Objects (Java) is installed.
