MARSHALL GAS CONTROLS
250 AUTO CHANGEOVER OPERATION
WITH TYPE 1 CONNECTION
TO TURN THE GAS SYSTEM ON
1.
Make sure all appliances and pilot lights are turned off.
2.
Have gas in both cylinders.
3.
Have both pigtails connected to the cylinder valves.
4.
Rotate the cylinder selector lever all the way toward the cylinder that you want to use first, this will be
your “service” cylinder. The other cylinder will be your “reserve” cylinder.
5.
Open both cylinder valves and wait until the indicator turns green before attempting to light an
appliance or pilot light. If you try to light an appliance before the indicator has turned green, you will
have low gas pressure feeding your appliances.
NOTE
On systems that have one cylinder mounted next to the regulator and the other cylinder mounted on
the opposite side of the coach, or systems that have long high pressure lines, you may have to wait
an additional minute or more.
TO DISCONNECT THE EMPTY CYLINDER
1.
Once it has been determined that your selected service cylinder is empty, (the indicator turns red and
stays red with no demand on the system), the first thing you should do is rotate the cylinder selector
lever 1800 toward the reserve cylinder. This makes it your new service cylinder. The indicator should
immediately turn green.
2.
Once the indicator turns green you should close the empty cylinder valve. You can now disconnect the
pigtail from the empty cylinder, and there should be no gas leaking out of the disconnected pigtail. Do
not disconnect a cylinder if the indicator is red.
3.
Remove the empty cylinder, reinstall the plastic cap over the cylinder valve thread, and have the
cylinder refilled. Reinstall the full cylinder on your unit, reconnect the pigtail to the cylinder valve,
and open the cylinder valve. Use a non-ammonia soap and water solution to check the pigtail to
cylinder valve connection for leaks. If a leak is found, close the cylinder valve and have a qualified LP
Gas technician check your system. If no leaks are found, you are now ready for the next cycle.
