Frequently asked questions

For routine maintenance, a set of basic hand tools is required, including a small hammer, various screwdrivers, English and Metric open-end wrenches, calipers, long nose pliers, wire strippers, drill bits, T-pins, an electronic multi-meter, wood chisels, quick-release clamps, sewing machine oil, rubber sanding blocks, extra guitar strings, a guitar tuner, fret dots, gun stock finish oil, Bona finish and sealer, and concentrated wood stain.

Action is the height of the strings from the fretboard and can be adjusted by adjusting the truss rod, nut, or bridge. To adjust the truss rod, use an Allen wrench to tighten or loosen it. To adjust the nut, use a feeler gauge to measure the distance between the bottom of the strings and the first fret, and file down the nut if necessary. To adjust the bridge, use an Allen wrench to raise or lower the saddles.

String buzzing can be caused by a variety of factors, including a warped neck, uneven frets, slots in the nut that are too low, action that is too low, or a poorly set up guitar. Refer to the section on “String Buzzing” in the manual for troubleshooting tips.
