Frequently asked questions

You should manually defrost the freezer compartment around twice a year or when a layer of ice builds up thicker than 5 mm. Turn the freezer off and disconnect the appliance from your mains supply. Remove the thaw water drainage channel and place it in front of the freezer compartment. Place a bowl under the channel to collect the water. Leave the freezer door open. You can place a bowl of warm water inside the freezer compartment to speed up the defrost process. Once the ice has melted, dry the interior of the freezer compartment thoroughly. After that, remove the thaw water drainage channel and place it back in its original place. Reconnect the appliance to your mains supply and set the thermostat knob to position 7 for 24 hours before returning it to the usual setting of 3-4. You should not attempt to freeze fresh food until this 24-hour period has elapsed.

The appliance may make some noise during normal operation, such as ice cracking noise during the automatic defrosting process, a short cracking noise when the thermostat turns the compressor on and off, compressor noise, bubbling and burbling sound as the coolant flows through the pipework, or a water flowing sound caused by water flowing into the evaporating tray during the defrosting process.

You should periodically clean the appliance using a solution of bicarbonate of soda and lukewarm water. Clean the accessories separately with soap and water. Do not clean them in a dishwasher. Do not use abrasive products, detergents, or soaps. After washing the appliance, wipe over the area that you have cleaned with a damp cloth and then dry it thoroughly.

If there is a power cut, then food inside of the appliance will remain at a safe temperature for approximately 20 hours. If the power cut is short, then leave the frozen food inside of the freezer compartment. If there is a prolonged power cut, then remove food from the freezer section and wrap it in layers of newspaper. Once power is restored, return the food to the freezer section if it has not started to defrost. If any of the food has started to defrost, then consume it within a short period of time.
