Asanté 10T Hub 8, 12, 24 Ethernet Hub Installation Guide

The Asanté 10T Hub 8, 10T Hub 12, and 10T Hub 24 are hardware devices that let you create high-speed Ethernet networks over ordinary, unshielded twisted-pair (UTP), telephone wire. The Asanté™ 10T Hubs are low-cost, easy to use devices which do not require complicated network management. They are best suited to build small to medium size networks or subnetworks of 50 nodes or less.

Frequently asked questions

The maximum cable length is 100 meters, including patch cables and cross-connect wires.

Yes, if the wire is 24-gauge, unshielded, twisted-pair, solid-conductor and meets other criteria outlined in the manual.

First, verify that the power indicator on the hub is on. Then check the wiring between the hub and the device, and make sure both devices have Link Status LEDs on. If the problem persists, you can test the individual devices.

The maximum number of hubs is 5, and the maximum number of cable segments is 1 to 5, according to the IEEE 802.3 standard.

You can use unshielded twisted-pair cable to connect the OUT port of one hub to the IN port of another hub, or use the BNC port to connect to a thin Ethernet backbone, or use the AUI port to connect to a thick Ethernet backbone.
