Canon EOS-1D Mark II User manual
C Digital Camera for Professionals How high can resolution and continuous shooting speed go? EOS -1D Mark II has the answer. The reborn EOS-1D achieves 8.2 effective megapixel resolution even at a continuous shooting speed of 8.5 frames per second. This extraordinary feat is more than evolution, it’s a revolution in digital camera performance. Versatility, operational ease and all aspects of camera design have been meticulously refined to give professionals a genuine edge at decisive moments. Higher performance and convenience borne of advanced technology and responsiveness to the requests of professionals. Major Specifications Type Type Recording medium Image size Compatible lenses Lens mount Large CMOS Sensor (approx. 8.2 million effective pixels) Canon’s new CMOS sensor with high-speed 8-channel reading technology delivers exceptional image quality with low noise and an extremely high S/N ratio. Its large 28.7 x 19.1mm size realizes an effective angle of view that’s just 1.3 times the focal length indicated on Canon EF lenses. Imaging Element Type Effective pixels Total pixels Aspect ratio Color filter system Low-pass filter Recording System Recording format Image format RAW+JPEG simultaneous recording File size Folder setting File numbering CMOS Sensor (Actual size) DIGIC II Imaging Processor Color matrix Compatible with DDR-SDRAM, Canon’s newly developed, state-of-the-art DIGIC II Imaging Processor achieves continuous shooting of 8.2 megapixel images at 8.5 fps and employs original Canon algorithms to accurately convert signals into crisp, high-resolution images with natural color and rich gradation. 8.5 fps continuous shooting with up to 40 images per burst The EOS-1D Mark II is the world's fastest Digital AF-SLR camera (as of February 2004). Its record-breaking 8.5 fps speed is achieved even at full resolution (3,504 x 2,336 pixels), and is maintained during max. bursts of 40 shots in JPEG mode (20 shots in RAW or RAW+JPEG mode). E-TTL II Autoflash Canon’s new Evaluative Through-The-Lens (E-TTL) Autoflash system offers evaluative metering as well as new averaged metering, which employs a new recording algorithm to achieve more stable control and help prevent underexposure and overexposure even when the subject changes location. High reliability and rigidity The highly reliable EOS -1D Mark II features rigid magnesium alloy in the chassis and external covers that also contributes to electromagnetic shielding, a durable finish and extremely low body weight. At 200,000 shutter cycles, shutter durability is 30% higher than in the EOS -1D and EOS -1Ds. Software and accessories Improved software features, which include EOS Viewer Utility for faster image preview, and Digital Photo Professional for high-speed processing, offer easier operability and handling of RAW images. With the inclusion of such accessories and a variety of EF lenses, Canon delivers total digital imaging solutions.
