Going wireless is easy. All you need is an INTELLINET NETWORK SOLUTIONS

Wireless N Router, and then, for each PC or laptop that you want to connect wirelessly, you’ll need a Wireless network adapter (Wireless N USB adapter or Wireless N

PCI card). Most new laptops come with WiFi already integrated, so you may not need a wireless adapter or card, just the router. However, in order to take advantage of the new Wireless N networking standard and its advanced speed, the use of INTELLINET

• DSL/Cable modem (provided by your ISP)

• Wireless 150N, Wireless 300N or Wireless 450N 4-Port Router (connects to the DSL/Cable modem)

• Wireless 300N PCI card or USB adapter for desktop PC

• Wireless 300N or 150N USB adapter for laptop (if wireless is not built-in or you want to upgrade to the faster Wireless N standard)

Besides the increased performance, Wireless N also offers WPS technology (WiFi Protected Setup) that allows creating a secure wireless connection with the push of a button. Setting up a wireless network has never been easier than it is today.

Antennas and MIMO

Technology

The speed with which data can be transmitted from one device to another. Data rates are measured in megabits (million bits) and abbreviated as Mbps.

“X” T “X” R (ex. 2T3R) refers to the new antenna technology multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO). MIMO uses multiple antennas for both transmitter and receiver to improve the wireless connection quality. “T” refers to Transmitter and “R” is the Receiver, therefore

2T3R uses 2 transmitters and 3 receivers for communication.

PATCH CABLES

CAT6a


Augmented Category 6 (Cat6a) Cable is used in network applications such as 10, 100, 1000, and 10,000Base-T Ethernet up to

100 meters (328 feet). Cat6a cables have been designed specifically for 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications over copper. They perform at high-data transfer rates and operate at a minimum frequency of 500 MHz. These cables deliver improved performance over standard Cat6 cables.

The new Cat6a standard extends the frequency of Cat6a cables to 500 MHz and includes specifications for a new performance parameter known as Alien Crosstalk (ANEXT). ANEXT is crosstalk that occurs between adjacent cables and connecting hardware.

While not a problem at the lower frequencies of Cat5e and Cat6 cabling, the higher frequency signals of Cat6a makes ANEXT the limiting noise source for these systems.

INTELLINET NETWORK SOLUTIONS Cat6a cables are designed to meet or exceed the TIA standard in reducing the interference caused by Alien Cross Talk. Category 6a cables are also fully backward compatible with all the previous categories, including

Category 6 and 5e.
