Art Phantom I Specifications

Below you will find brief information for Direct Box Phantom I. The Phantom I is a direct box that can be used to connect an amplifier's speaker output to a microphone input on a mixer. It can also be used to connect an unbalanced line-level source (ie: a synthesizer, another mixer, an effects device, etc.) to a microphone input on a mixer. You can use Phantom I to help eliminate ground loop issues between the signal source and the mixer.

Frequently asked questions

The Phantom I is a direct box that can be used to connect an amplifier's speaker output to a microphone input on a mixer. It can also be used to connect an unbalanced line-level source (ie: a synthesizer, another mixer, an effects device, etc.) to a microphone input on a mixer. You can use Phantom I to help eliminate ground loop issues between the signal source and the mixer.

The Phantom I takes an unbalanced signal from a device like an amplifier or synthesizer, converts it to a balanced signal, and then sends the signal to a mixer or snake using a low-impedance mic cable.

The Attenuator switch provides two levels of signal padding: -20dB and -40dB. You can use the Attenuator switch to adjust the level of the signal that is being sent to the mixer. Set the Attenuator switch to –20dB if the incoming signal is line-level or –40dB if it is from the speaker output of an amplifier.

The Ground Lift switch is used to eliminate ground loops between the signal source and the mixer. A ground loop occurs when there is a difference in ground potential between two devices. This can cause a hum or buzz in the audio signal. To eliminate a ground loop, you can connect a Phantom I between the signal source and a mic input with phantom power and set the ground switch to Lift.

The Active LED on the Phantom I will come on to indicate that phantom power is being received. If it fails to come on, check to see that the mixer's phantom power is switched on.
