This booklet presumes that the user is already fully familiar with the
Orion.
If not, please work through the Orion Basic and Advanced
Programming Guides first.
ORION SLAVE MANUAL | SETTING UP and OPERATION
MISETTING UP
Connections
Plug one end of the 8 pin DIN lead supplied (marked
‘Slave’) into the DIN socket on the rear of the Slave;
plug the other end into the Orion or into one of the
output sockets of an Orion Slave Splitter.
DIL Switch Settings
Check that the DIL switch settings are as shown on
page 4 before switching on.
OPERATION
All the features of an Orion are available and are used
on an Orion Slave with the following minor exceptions:
Programming: If the first step of a chase (or first
channel of a memory) is an Orion Slave channel, Add
Step MUST be pressed FIRST to create a blank step
(page 7 and Basic Programming pages 5,11 & 18).
Channel Level Display: This feature is not available
(Basic Programming page 14).
Security Code: Cannot use Orion Slave channel
buttons (page 5).
Note: During normal use the data light should be on
and remain on. If it is off or does not light, check:
That the Orion Slave is switched on.
That the Orion is switched on.
The connections are properly made.

Up to 10 Orion Slave Splitters may me connected to All the cables necessary to connect an Orion Slave
one Orion. With a simple modification, one Slave system are supplied with the individual parts.
Splitter can drive 10 further Slave Splitters, giving a RGP
theoretical maximum of well over 1000 channels. Up The Orion Slave 5 supplied with Cable A (See
