INTRODUCTION
Data on benefits paid, weeks of benefits.
claims and beneficiaries are received
monthly from Employment and Immigration
Canada. The beneficiaries data represent a
count of all claimants receiving unemployment
Insurance benefits during a specific week
of the month, all other data relate to the
duration of the entire calendar month. For
this reason, as well as accounting practices
to pay claims, the benefits paid cannot be
directly related to the number of beneficiaries over the short term.
Les données sur les prestations versèes, les
semaines de prestations. las demandes at les
bénéficlaires sont reçues mensuellement de
Emplol at Immigration Canada.
For beneficiaries, preliminary data are
shown for the two most recent months. All
other data are final and, generally. are not
subject to revisions.
Information about the unemployment insurance program, definitions, references and
historical data are published in a separate
Annual Supplement (Catalogue No. 73-202S),
included with a subscription to the monthly
report.
