For the week ended November 12 some
1,075,000 claimants received unemployment
insurance benefits, a rise of 9% from the
previous month. An increase in the nsnber
of beneficiaries is a usual occurrence
between October and November.

compared with the November 1982 total of
1,251,000.

than the $863 million disbursed in
November 1982.

Claims submitted by persons seeking benefits in November totalled 395,000, an
increase of 30% from the 303,000 applications filed in the previous month. The
claim intake normally records a good-sized
rise between October and November.

dropped in all areas except for
Newfoundland (up 1%), Rriiice Edward Island

Territories (up 33).
