The nuther of beneficiaries for the week
ending November 17, 1984, stood at 1.13
million, a rise of 11.0% over the previous
month and 3.9% over November 1983.
Le nombre provisoire de bénéficiaires pour Ia
semaine se terininant le 17 novembre 1984 s'est
établi h 1.13 million, soit 11.0% de plus qu'en
octobre et 3.9% de plus qu'en novembre 1983.
A comparison between November 1983 and
1984 reveals that the niaer of beneficiaries receiving regular benefits with no
earnings reported increased by 1.2%. For
the same group, by sex, the rises were
0.9% for males and 4.4% for females. The
number of claimants under 20 years of age
declined by 8.3%; by sex, the decreases
were 6.0% and 11.9%, respectively, for
males and females. All other age groups
registered increases.

ordinaires, sans gains déclarés, a augmenté de

After seasonal adjustment, the number of
beneficiaries receiving regular benefits
with no earnings reported rose slightly
(0.4%) in November 1984. All provinces
recorded increases, excepting Nova Scotia,
flntarhr and British Columbia where only
marginal changes were observed. The
increases ranged from 0.4% in Quebec to

For the first 11 months of 1984, benefits
paid to claimants amounted to $9.18 billion, 2.5% less than was disbursed during
the same period last year. As compared
with the same period in 1983, the average
weekly benefit increased by 4.2% to
$161.12. This anount is 63.2% of the maximun weekly benefit of $255.00 for 1984.
Initial and Renewal Claims
