WALTER USB to Parallel Converter (AKZ250Version) User Manual
Ver1.10
Features:
Fully support all Mach3 software versions, included the latest version of the Mach3
R3.042.040.
Support Windows OS,included the Windows7 OS.
Do not need to install any USB drivers,the card can be used immediately after
connecting the USB cable.
Full support USB hot-swappable, monitoring the USB connection status any time. So, if
USB cable is disconnected during the Mach3 operation, the card is still working after
USB cable is connected.
Support controlling 4 axes CNC system at the same time.
Support tool auto-checking instrument, electronic hand wheel, limit switches, emergency
stop button and the software function for consuming the backlash.
48M speed. The control signals generated by the USB card are isolated from the PC
signals that the USB card is a real-time and stable system.
200KHz output, it is suitable for the control system of the servo / stepping motor system.
A LED indicator is installed that the states of the USB card can be displayed during the
system operation.
16 LEDs are installed in the particular input channels for indicating the status of the
input channels.
Spindle speed sensing system,the spindle speed can be displayed on the Mach 3
interface in graphic detail.
An isolated power supply is included, thus, external power supply is not requested for
simple connection. Furthermore, external power supply can also be applied for
enhancing the functions of the USB card.
Select ten 10Mhz High Speed Optocouplers and 24 Optocouplers for isolating the
input/output signals and protecting the system. In addition, a completed high-cost
anti-interference performance and an improved protection are provided

1. Preparation for Installation
Mach3 Software installation
1. Download a latest and licensed Mach3on the official website:
http://www.machsupport.com/downloads.php
2. Download the plugin file of “usbmove.dll” at
www.cncdiy.org
Please select the Red Box one.
Go to the bottom of the page of “USB to Parallel Converter” to find and
download the plugin file of “UsbMove(V2.0.1.1)”

When you installed the Mach 3,you can deselect the “Parallel Port Driver”.

Connecting the USB card
This USB card is not requested any USB driver in Windows2000/XP/Vista/Windows7 OSs.

Copy the usbmove.dll (after unzip the usbmove.zip),paste it in the location of
Mach3\PlugIns folder. 例 If you installed the Mach 3in your C driver (C:\Mach3),
please paste the usbmove.dll in the C:\Mach3\PlugIns.

Assumption: The step angle of the stepping motor is 1.8 degrees and selected a screw with 5mm pitch.
1. Steps Per - Please refer to the specification of the machine for finding the step angle data.
A. For millimeter unit use
1.
Pulses per revolution = 360 degrees/1.8 degrees = 200 pulses / revolution
2.
According to the CNC driver specification, the prescale of the CNC driver is 1/8 steps.
So, the actual value is 200 Pulses / revolution x 8 = 1600 pulses / revolution.
3.
The “Steps Per” value of metric = 1600 Pulses / revolution ÷ Pitch of the driver screw
= 1600 Pulses / revolution ÷ 5mm = 320 Pulses / revolution / mm
If the stepping motor is losing step or not smooth, please adjust the values of "Velocity" and the
"Acceleration"
B. For inch unit use
Method A:
1. Using the value of the “Steps Per” value of metric (320 Pulses / revolution / mm)
2.
The constant different between mm and inch is 25.4mm : 1 inch.
3.
So the “Steps Per” value = 320 x 25.4 = 8128 Pulses / revolution / inch
Method B:
1.
Pulses per revolution = 360 degrees/1.8 degrees = 200 pulses / revolution
2.
According to the CNC driver specification, the prescale of the CNC driver is 1/8 steps.
So, the actual value is 200 Pulses / revolution x 8 = 1600 pulses / revolution.
3.
The “Steps Per” value = 1600 Pulses / revolution ÷ Pitch of the driver screw
= 1600 Pulses / revolution ÷ 5mm = 320 Pulses / revolution / mm
4.
Number of revolution per 1 inch: For metric driving screw: 25.4mm ÷ Pitch of the driver
screw = 5.08
For metric driving screw: 1inch ÷ Pitch of the driver screw

The “Steps Per” value = 1600 Pulses / revolution x Number of revolution per 1 inch
= 1600 Pulses / revolution ÷ 5.08 = 8128 Pulses / revolution / Inch

3. Hardware Installation
The USB card is used the USB power supply provided by your computer, and isolated power
module is installed that any external 5 Volts power is not necessary.

4. Hardware Installation for CNCDIY’s control system
For connecting the USB Card to the CNCDIY’s control system, a DB25F to IDC26 Parallel Port
Bracket for MSI Mainboards is requested.

A. X、Y、Z and A axis outputs can be selected two different power supplying methods. They
are USB card internal power supply and external power supply.

7. External Rating Knob
Please read the Chapter 1 “Preparation for Installation” first.
Connect the external rating knob to J16 socket (EXTO) of the USB card.
Additional external rating knob to J17 socket (EXT1) of the USB card is added by you.
Mach3- Config=>Config Plugins,go to PlugIn Control and Activation
Select“Config”
Must set as “√”。Otherwise, please
use the USB cable and connection
between the USB Card and the PC.
Click the“Config”to open the “USB Motion Card” page.

Select“External 0”(EXT 0, J16) and “External 1” (EXT 1, J17) for under the Ratios. Since the
USB card has only two external rating channels that only two ratios can be selected.
