Operating Instructions
Before connecting, operating or adjusting this
product, please read these instructions completely.
Cassette Tapes

Tape Playback
1. Connect the included stereo headphones to
the headphones jack.
2. Open the cassette compartment cover with
your hand. Insert a cassette and then close the
cassette compartment cover.
3. Press the play button and playback will begin.
4. Adjust the volume control.
5. To stop the playback, press the stop button.
Automatic stop
When the tape comes to the end during playback, the
tape stops moving automatically, the play button
returns to ils original position, and the unit is turned
off.
Fast forward and rewind
When the rewind button is pressed, the tape will be
rapidly rewound.
When the fast forward button is pressed. the tape will
be rapidly forwarded. When the tape comes to the
end press the stop button.
When the tape reaches the end by pressing the fast
forward button or the rewind button, the automatic
stop system does not function. The tape will stop, but
the motor will continue to turn, Do not leave the set in
this condilion. Be sure to press the stop button.
Maintenance
The head assembly, capstans, and pressure rollers
are in constant contact with the tape. If these parts
are dirty, the sound quality will be impaired. Periodi-
cally, clean these parts as shown.
1. Open the cassette compartment cover.
2. Pregs the play button. The playback head,
capstans and pressure rollers can be seen.
Clean them with a cotton swab.
If the head assembly is extremely dirty. clean it with a
soft cloth dampened with a little alcohol.
The use of cleaning tapes is not recommended, as
some are abrasive and may cause premature wear of
the heads. Simply, clean the head assembly as
described.
Do not clean the plastic cabinet wilh benzine or
thinner. Clean it with a cloth, dampened in a mild
solution of soap and water. Avoid excessive mois-
ture.
Avoid spray aerosol type cleaner. Some cleaners
contain corrosive chemicals that may cause internal

damage and cabinet deformalion.
Head demagnetization
tn order to maintain good sound quality during
playback, it is recommended that the head assembly
be demagnetized when distortion or poor sound
quality persists after cleaning the head.
If the head assembly becomes magnetized. it could
create loss of high end frequency response.
Several types of head demagnetizers are available
and may be purchased separately at local electronics
supply stores, Follow the instructions that are sup-
plied with the device.
Do not bring any type of metal objects or tools such
as magnetic screwdrivers in contact with the head
assembly.

Battery Installation
Install the 2 “AA” size batteries (Panasonic R6/LR6
or equivalent, not included) as shown in the figure.
1. Open the battery compartment cover.
2. Insert 2 “AA” size (Panasonic R6/LR6 or
equivalent) batteries.
3. Close the battery compartment cover,
Battery removal
Press the ® side toward the © battery terminal and
lift up.
Batteries installed with incorrect polarities may leak
and damage (his unit.
Do not mix batteries {old and new) or types (carbon
and alkaline.)

When the batteries are weak, the tape speed will
slow down, the sound will become distorted, and the
volume will decrease.
If the set is not used for a long period of time or is
used only from an AC power source, remove all the
batteries to prevent potential damage due to possible
battery leakage.
For AC power opération, use only Panasonic AC
adaptor (RP-AC33, optional).
