QuickStart Guide
SAS® 9.2 Installation Kit for z/OS® Cartridges
If you have not reviewed them yet,
please refer to the System Requirements.
- System requirement documentation is available from Install
Center (http://support.sas.com/documentation/
Confirm that you have received the software
that you expected.
- In your installation kit, find the SAS Order Information document, which
lists the software that you ordered.
- Verify that the SAS products and servers listed are correct and match
what you expected to receive. If they are not what you expected,
contact SAS Customer Service at 1-800-727-0025.
- After you install your software, the SAS Order Information will also be
available from your SAS Software Depot, the networked repository of
your SAS software that contains everything you need to install your
software order. The SAS Software Depot is located at
/install_doc/<order number>/soi.html.
If you are migrating metadata from SAS 9.1.3,
you must prepare your software for migration.
- To prepare your SAS 9.1.3 deployment for migration to SAS 9.2,
follow the instructions in the SAS Intelligence Platform: 9.1.3 to 9.2

If the order type on your SAS Software Order E-mail indicates
that you have a “Planning” order,
review the pre-installation checklist(s) for your order(s).
- If an installation consultant is assisting you with your deployment,
the consultant will have an order-specific checklist for you to use.
- If you do not have an installation consultant, you can find checklists for
many orders at the Planning Web site, located at

Platform Pre-installation Checklists located at
Your SAS software has been shipped on both
cartridge and DVD media.
- To unload and install your SAS software on z/OS, follow the
instructions in Unloading and Installing SAS 9.2 from z/OS Cartridges,
located at http://support.sas.com/documentation/
- After you complete the processes described in that document,
continue to Step 3 to create a SAS Software Depot for any mid-tier and
client software included with your order.
DVD media is required if your mid-tier and client software
will be installed on hosts other than z/OS.
- To start the SAS Deployment Wizard, insert your media into the DVD
- The media for Windows should autoplay. If it does not, double-click on
the setup.exe file at the root of your DVD to start the SAS Deployment
- UNIX users should mount their DVD with the appropriate mount
command and execute setup.sh at the root of the DVD.
Select the language that you want
to use for the installation.
Use the dialogs to create your
SAS Software Depot.
- After you create the SAS Software Depot, you should install from it.
- z/OS users should create their SAS Software Depot on either a remote
directory that is accessible to the z/OS machine via an NFS mount,
or on a UNIX file system directory on the z/OS machine itself.
- Close the SAS Deployment Wizard.
Before you begin to install your SAS software,
install any third-party software that is required.
- Your checklist names any third-party software that must be installed
before you install your SAS software. If you have no third-party software
listed in the checklist or the ordersummary.html, skip to Step 7.
- The checklist indicates which third-party software must be obtained
from its vendor. Retrieve that software and install it according to the
vendor’s instructions.
- Some of your third-party software may be provided in your software
order. That software is listed in your ordersummary.html described
on page 1 of this QuickStart Guide. Follow the path for each third-party
product listed in the Third Party section of the ordersummary.html to
locate the documentation for its installation.
Restart the SAS Deployment Wizard
to install your SAS software.
- Windows users should double-click the setup.exe file at the top level
of your SAS Software Depot.
- UNIX users should execute setup.sh from the root of your SAS
Software Depot.
- For more information about the choices available in each dialog, click
the Help button. For more detailed information, please see the SAS
Deployment Wizard User’s Guide, available from Install Center
There may be additional configuration steps
required for your software.
- For product-specific post-installation steps, configuration instructions
are available for your operating system from Install Center.
