QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR 16-0004
(OXYGEN CONTROLLED ANIMAL CHAMBER)
Q1:
Will bids be considered to the attached if they control and monitor CO2 from 1-30% as
opposed to the bid criteria of 0-30%?
A1:
No - we need it to have the ability to go to 0% and to be accurate to 0.1% increments. Some
experiments require CO2 below 1%
Q2:
Can we get more clarification of number 14 in the specifications? Do you need savable
profiles, is this cycling between 4 different O2 and CO2 levels? Can you clarify timing for
each gas as well? This specification indicates that they are trying to cycle between multiple
oxygen levels and the timing is adjustable to the users needs but certain limitations may
also apply for the volume of the chamber and flow rates.
A2:
I don’t need a profile be savable — but I do need a savable log of what the instrument “did”. It
should be able to set the level and have a log of what the level was over time - say for 20 min it was
x % CO2 and x % O2 etc. and then 20min later it was z% and b%.
We need to be able to go back and be sure with the log that the levels where what we had
programmed in so we can be sure the data we get is meaningful.
For timing — it does depend on chamber size and we defined the chamber size in our bid. For
what we need - being able to change within an hour is fine.
Q3:
In regards to programmable 4 different oxygen levels. Do they need to cycle CO2 with this
or is CO2 a static level?
A3:
BOTH need to be able to be changed at the same time — as we said — oxygen AND carbon
dioxide
