IMPORTANT WARNINGS & SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS – carefully and become familiar with the features and functions of these
products before operating them.
2. RETAIN THESE INSTRUCTIONS – for future reference.
3. COMPLY WITH ALL WARNINGS – All warnings and instructions for this product should be adhered to.
4. USE WITH AMPLIFIERS – In order to avoid damage to drivers and other equipment, it is advisable to
establish and follow a routine for powering up and powering down a sound system. With all system
components connected, turn on source equipment (mixers, signal processors, record and playback
units, etc.) BEFORE powering up amplifiers. Transient voltages from powering up source equipment
can damage speakers if amplifiers are already turned on. Make sure that amplifier volumes are set to
their minimum settings and power up any system amplifiers LAST. It is recommended that all system
components be allowed to stabilize for several seconds before any source signals are introduced
or level setting adjustments are made. Similarly, when shutting systems down, turn all amplifiers off
first, before powering down any other system components.
5. CABLES – Do not use shielded or microphone cables for connection between amplifiers and
speakers. Use only approved speaker cables with proper connectors.
6. CAUTION – These professional loudspeaker systems are capable of generating very high sound
pressure levels. Use care with placement and operation to avoid exposure to excessive volume
levels. Permanent hearing damage can result when operated to extreme levels.
7. SERVICE – There are no user serviceable parts inside this product. Users should not attempt to
service this product. Warranty nullification could result if this is attempted.

OPERATING MANUAL AND USER GUIDE
WHAT ABOUT THE V SERIES ?
Wharfedale V Series sound reinforcement speakers are designed for demanding sound
reinforcement applications.
The V Series loudspeakers are high quality, passive speaker systems designed to provide the
best sound in a powerful, feature laden, and easy to use package. They provide transparent
and accurate sound reproduction or reinforcement. The 25.4mm (1.0”) Phenolic high frequency
compression driver projects crystal clear high frequencies. A proprietary 90° x 60° Eliptical Wave
Guide (EWG) delivers the high frequencies in a well defined, even coverage pattern.
The V Series is very flexible in application. With its heavy-duty grille, pocket handles, stand socket
and durable carpet finish, the V Series can rise to any sound reinforcement challenge.
INTRODUCTION
Wharfedale V Series loudspeakers are the result of many years of experience in the use, design
and manufacturing of professional loudspeaker products. We take great pride in engineering and
building every Wharfedale Pro loudspeaker and wish to thank you for entrusting us with your sound.
From the time Gilbert Briggs built his first loudspeaker in 1932, to the present, Wharfedale
Loudspeakers have maintained the same standard of quality in components, workmanship and
performance. Actually, Wharfedale is one of a few present day manufacturers that design, engineer
and build all of their own transducers.
Please take a few minutes to read this manual completely in order to ensure that you get the most
out of your V Series Loudspeaker system.
V SERIES OVERVIEW:
The V Series are powerful, accurate, high quality loudspeaker systems with low distortion that were
designed to deliver high quality sound for the best value. From the V10 to the V153 plus the highpowered subs, you have what it takes to assemble the system that your music deserves. Other
models to satisfy your most demanding sound needs include: V12 ,V12M, V15, and the V15B and
V18B Subwoofers.
An important factor in loudspeakers, is the smoothness of the sound coverage. Many speakers
that may sound great directly in front of them and in the horizontal plane have problems in the
vertical plane. The V Series™ speakers exhibit very smooth and well-behaved sound dispersion
characteristics in both the horizontal and vertical planes making positioning and set-up less
troublesome. Everyone on stage or in the audience will hear the same, high-quality sound. Because
of the trapezoidal cabinet design, the V-Series speakers can be positioned on the floor as a stage
monitor or mounted on a speaker stand.
When you need that extra bass punch, you can choose the V15B and the V18B reflex subwoofers.

SETTING UP/ SPEAKER PLACEMENT
The uniform dispersion of the V Series Series makes it easy to position the speakers where you
need them, rather than trying to rearrange the room to accommodate the sound system. And the
trapezoidal shaped cabinet with heavy duty handles makes transporting the speakers that much
easier. An integral stand socket allows you to place the speakers high above the audience for best
sound coverage.
When you don’t think you are getting all the bass you need, the V Series has a couple of great
subwoofers: the V15B and V18B. These are powerful bass reflex subwoofers that give you the
lowest frequencies and the punch you need. They are straight forward, no nonsense, bass reflex
subwoofers with exceptional low frequency response.
CONNECTIONS / WIRING
Connecting the V Series to your system is easy. The input panel includes parallel TS 6.35mm (1/4”)
connectors. Run your speaker wires from your amplifier, to the speaker; you can use either input
connector. Be sure to use high quality, low gauge (thick) speaker wire and NOT shielded cable —
for
all speaker connections.

The V15B and V18B Subwoofers have Hi-pass output jacks so you can use just one channel of
an amplifier for your full range system including a subwoofer. Run your speaker wires to the input
of the sub and another speaker wire from the subwoofer hi-pass output jack to the input of the full
range speaker on a stand or sitting atop the sub. Placement depends on your sound coverage
requirements.

V SERIES FULL RANGE AND SUBWOOFER CONNECTION
PANEL
The V-10, V-12, V-12M,V-15 and V-153 feature two 1/4” phone jack socket connectors and are
paralleled. This means that these cabinets can be linked together with other cabinets of the same
impedance and design or with a subwoofer speaker. (See drawing)

V-15B/18B
The V-15B, V-18B have three 1/4” phone jack. Two 1/4” phone jack are paralleled at the rear of
each cabinet. The other 1/4” phone jack allows connection to MID/HI output .
In the (standard) passive mode, the power amplifier can be connected to the V-15B or 18B system
through the system’s internal low pass filters. The V Full Range Speaker is connected from the
input/output connector panel and receives a full range signal via the sub cabinet. (See drawing)

V15B and V18B Stereo Sub with Passive Satellites
This is example shows a system with a single power ampliyer connecting the subs and satellites in stereo.
The mixer’s left and right outputs are connected to the inputs of the power amplifier using shielded cable. The
outputs of the amplifier are connected to the V15B or V18B INPUT using un-shielded speaker cable. Next, run
an un-shielded speaker cable from the V15B’s or V18B’s EXTENSION OUTPUT to the two satellite speakers.
For details on wiring your speaker cables.
IMPORTANT NOTE: To avoid any possible damage to your amp and speakers, be sure to check the
manufacturer’s owners manual to confirm your power ampliyer is capable of operating at 2 ohms.

Impedance Considerations
When connecting speakers in parallel be sure to check the rated load impedance of the power amplifier. Most
power amplifiers are capable of safely driving speakerswith minimum impedance of 8 ohms or 4 ohms. A pair
of parallel-connected 8-ohm speakers have a to talimpedance of 4 ohms. Two 8-ohm speakers can safely be
paralleled on one output. 4-ohm speakers, however, should not be parallel-connected with other speakers. These
models can be connected in parallel, however, if you are using a power amplifier that can safely drive load
impedances of 2 ohms or lower. Check your speaker impedance .
