Display Screen Overview
1. Time and date
2. DECT signal strength—Reflects the handset
registration status to the Cisco SPA232D
3. Battery indicator—Reflects the charge level
and status of the batteries.
4. Handset information—Lists the name and
number assigned to the handset in the phone
system.
5. Contacts—Private contacts only.
6. Options—Items displayed in this menu
depend on the phone state.

Add Private Contacts

Press the Select button.
Choose Contacts.
Choose Private (contacts are stored only
on this handset).
Press the Options soft key to perform one
of the following actions:
› Add New—Add a new contact. Enter the name and
number, and then press the Save soft key. Names
and numbers have a 32-character limit.
› Edit Dial—Retrieves the number from the Contacts
list and opens the dialer window, so that the number
can be edited before dialing. Press the Right and Left
Arrow buttons to move the cursor in the number field
and the Back soft key to delete characters.
› Edit—Edit the name and number of the contact. You can also
assign a ringtone for the contact. Press Save to save your
changes.
› Delete—Deletes the selected contact. Press Confirm to delete.
› Delete All—Deletes all contacts. Press Confirm to delete all
contacts.

Options – Idle State
Press the Options soft key and then:
› Redial—Press to dial the last number called.
› Intercom—Press to call another Cisco
SPA302D that is registered to the same Cisco
SPA232D. Choose the handset from a list and
press the Select button.
› Parked Calls—Retrieve a parked call.
Supported using Star Codes.
› Grp Pickup—Pick up a call ringing at another
handset in a group of phones. Supported
using Star Codes.
› Pickup—Pick up a call ringing at a specified
extension. Supported using Star Codes.
› Key lock—Press to lock the phone. To unlock,
press the Select button, and then press the
asterisk key (*).

Options (Idle State) – Call Park & Retrieve
To park a call:
1. Initiate a transfer.
2. Dial *68 and wait for the prompts.
3. At the prompt, enter the extension where you want to park the call or
press # to park it at your own extension, and then hang up.
To retrieve a call:
1. Dial *88 and wait for the prompts.
2. Enter the extension where the call is parked or press # to retrieve it from
your own extension.
Note: Users can park and retrieve calls only on extensions to which this
service has been assigned.

Options (Idle State) – Call Pickup
To Pickup a Call (Grp Pickup):
1. Lift telephone handset. Press the assigned code*98.
2. The ringing phone in your call group pickup group is connected.
Note: The Call Pickup group is determined by an administrator.
Note: If more than one line is ringing the phone that has been
ringing the longest is the one picked up.
To Pickup a Call:
1. Lift telephone handset. Press the assigned code *97.
2. Enter the extension where the call is ringing. You answer the
ringing call at the specified extension.
Note: The Call Pickup group is determined by an administrator.

› New Call—Put an active call on hold
and create a new call.
› Hold—Put a call on hold.
› Transfer—Transfer a call.
› Conference—Create a conference.

Call Waiting
Call Waiting—If call waiting is enabled,
while on a call, a beep tone will alert you
of a second incoming call. To program:
1. Press the Select button
2. Scroll to Call Settings
3. Press the Select button again.
4. In the Call Settings menu, press the
Up and Down Arrow buttons to select
the settings you want to change and
press the Select button.

To send a call to voicemail without
answering:
› When a call is ringing, press the Ignore
soft key.

Do Not Disturb – Star Codes
Do Not Disturb Activate:
1. Lift telephone handset. Press the assigned code*78
2. The system will announce “Your Do Not Disturb service has
been activated successfully. Thank you.”
Do Not Disturb Deactivate:
1. Lift telephone handset. Press the assigned code*79
2. The system will announce “Your Do Not Disturb service has
been deactivated successfully. Thank you.”
Note: Do not program Do Not Disturb on your phone. This may
cause a problem with your phone operation.

Call Transfer
While on an active call.
1.
Press the Options soft key.
2.
Use the Navigation button to scroll down to Transfer,
then press the Select soft key. Your caller will be
placed on hold and you will receive a new dial tone.
3.
Dial the number or extension, and then press the
Dial/Answer button.
4.
Wait until the other party answers, announce the call,
then press the Options soft key, use the Navigation
button to scroll down to Transfer, and press the Select
soft key to connect the call.
The phone will display, “Call is Transferred” upon
successful completion.
NOTE: If you misdial the destination number/extension,
you may press the red phone button to end the new call,
then restart the transfer process from Step 1. There is no
need to resume the call before restarting the transfer.
NOTE: When using the Options soft key, please wait for
the menu to display before pressing any additional buttons.
Sometimes the menu will take slightly longer to display than
normal, especially when you have an active call.

3-Way/N-Way Conference
While on an active call.
1.
Press the Options soft key.
2.
Use the Navigation button to scroll down to
Conference, then press the Select soft key. Your
caller will be placed on hold and you will receive a
new dial tone.
3.
Dial the number of the next party you want to join
the call, and then press the Dial/Answer button.
4.
When your party answers, press the Options soft
key, use the Navigation button to scroll down to
Conference, and press the Select soft key to
create a 3-way conference call. When successful,
all three parties will be able to talk to each other.
› Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each additional party you
want to join the call.
NOTE: Once a 3-way call has been established, the conference
participants will not be placed on hold, but will instead be able to
continue talking to each other while you add each new participant.
NOTE: If you hang up before the other parties on the N-way
conference call, the system will join the other callers until they
individually hang up.
