Open the back cover of the label maker. Remove the old batteries and insert the new ones with the positive end of the bottom three batteries pointing toward the top end of the machine, and the positive end of the top three batteries pointing in the opposite direction.

The P-touch 1260 uses Brother TZ tapes, which are available in a variety of colors and widths. Be sure to use only Brother TZ tapes with this machine, as other tapes may not be compatible.

Remove the tape cassette and use a dry cotton swab to gently wipe the print head with an up-and-down motion. Alternatively, you can use the optional print head cleaning cassette (TZ-CL3).
