Frequently asked questions
To calibrate the instrument, depress and hold the START button until “ccc” appears on the display. Release the START button. The display will flash the value of the calibration cuvette (instrument is set with the value of its calibration cuvette at the factory.) Open the black cover and insert specified calibration cuvette into sample carrier until widest portion of cuvette is seated. Close cover. Depress and release the START button. Instrument begins calibration. When calibration cuvette returns to it’s original position, calibration cycle ends. Remove calibration cuvette from sample carrier.
Using a pipette or syringe, completely fill the sample cuvette with serum. Open the black cover, insert sample cuvette in the same manner as the calibration cuvette. Close cover and depress the START button. There will be a 2 second delay for the lamp to come to equilibrium. Sample carrier will automatically rotate to position cuvette into light path for measurement. After a short pause, bilirubin concentration will be displayed. After 15 seconds, the measurement cycle will be complete, and the carrier will return the cuvette back to the loading position. Remove cuvette.
It takes approximately 15 seconds for the Reichert UNISTAT Bilirubinometer to measure bilirubin.
