Edelbrock 351 is a performer RPM hydraulic roller camshaft designed for 351 c.i.d. (Windsor) Ford V8 engines. It is specifically ground for use with the corresponding Performer or Performer RPM manifold, and dyno-matched to work as a team. This camshaft package may also be used with other components designed to operate in a similar RPM range. It features a nylon camshaft thrust button, adjustable stud mounted rocker arms, and requires the use of Edelbrock push rods designed for roller lifters.

Frequently asked questions

Cam lobe damage can result from the timing gear loosening due to improper torque on bolts, or worn distributor and oil pump gear drive.

The valve springs must have a closed pressure of 110-120 lbs, open pressure of 330-340 lbs and a lift of .600”.

Edelbrock Performer-Link Timing Set #7811 or 7820, Hex-A-Just Timing Set #7335, or Accu-Drive Gear Drive #7892 ONLY.

Check for proper valve-to-piston clearance (minimum .080" for intake valve, .100" for exhaust valve), rocker arm stud slot clearance (both ends, valve closed and open), and proper spring settings as per the spring instruction sheet.

Disconnect the battery, drain radiator coolant, remove radiator and air conditioning condenser, remove gas cap and disconnect fuel line, disconnect all linkage from carburetor, tag and remove coil wires and sensor wires, remove distributor cap and rotate engine to TDC, remove carburetor and intake manifold, remove rocker arms and pushrods, remove hydraulic valve lifters, remove crankshaft pulley and dampener, remove fuel pump, rotate engine to align timing marks, loosen oil pan, remove water pump and front cover, remove camshaft sprocket bolts, remove sprockets and chain, remove crankshaft sprocket, remove thrust plate and camshaft.

Torque camshaft sprocket bolts to 22-27 ft./lbs., torque thrust plate bolts to 9-12 ft./lbs.
